My other thread went a little haywire because Jeff had a secret and Joey figured it out.
I have upgraded my Arcam Alpha 8se to a Marantz SA 14. I am not HUGE on the idea of SACD but what I decided is that I love digital playback.
The idea was that, given my current equipmnt, I will need to spend close to $2,000 on a LP spinner to get the low noise that I would want.
I am also a fan of seperate transports/DACs so I wanted a player/transport that had more than the "average" transport mechanism. I started off aiming for a Teac VRDS 25 but they are not too easy to find and after reading up on them, I started to get nervous about their reliability. What drew me into the Marantz is its cast aluminum and zinc disk tray, as well as the added bonus of SACD playback as well as a well praised Redbook performance.
....and know what I discovered? The remote for this matched my Arcam exactly. Every button; eject, ff, play, display on/off, program, etc. works!
