7. Comments and/or stories about your Martin Logan experience: This is my second ML system


Back in 2009, my first system is ML Vantage, Pre/Power: Krell, signal and speaker cable: MIT. Since my room is very small (9' x 14'), I found that sound is too compress. Bass and mid-bass is boomy. Picture below is my first system

Then, this year I change all systems. Vantage -> Vista, Krell -> HK 990, Cable MIT -> Transparent. The result is very good, more musical, no boomy, very relax. Below is present system

On the front wall is 80% absorber and 20% in middle that is diffuser.

I think it is Maple. Frames are aluminium.

Hi!

I have an opportunity to compare these speaker cables
1. Transparent Ultra Bi-Cable
2. Ixos Biwire
3. PAD Venustas
4. Nordost SPM
5. MIT Shotgun S-1

After I changed speaker cable from MIT Shotgun S1 to Transparent Ultra Bi-Cable. Sound is very differnt, MIT is more open while Transparent have a good tonal balance but lack in high frequency and harmonic.

So I purchased Ixos speaker cable which is very cheap (around 15$ per 3 feet) since I heard some good comment on this cable.

I also borrow PAD and Nordost for comparison.

Each cable has own character, I love PAD most while Ixos is in the second. In my imho, SPM and Shotgun S-1 have very semilar sound characteristic which is too bright for me (I'm 50 now)

I will keep PAD and Ixos.

Nice room, great set up. I use to run a Marantz front end, a lovely sound indeed,congrats.

1. Add another HK 990, more open sound and deep sound stage
2. Change from Grotto i to REL R-328, imho, bass is faster and more coherent with Vista

Overall, I like sound of this combination more than my previous set (Vantage+Pre/Power Krell)

I have a chance to try DCS Clock connect to Marantz SA-11S2. Result is good, more detail on each instrument especially when listen to classical music.
