Experiencing break in first hand right now. When I decided to purchase the review sample of the ARC REF Phono 2, (which had about 800 hours on the clock when it came in for review...) they insisted on sending me a brand new one.

Plugging the new one in side by side and comparing to the one with about 1200 hours on it is night and day. The new one sounds pretty flat and lifeless in comparison.

But I know it will get better!

I'm going to be trying the following DIY power cable (The Beast). The one on the outside in the photo. A number of people have been using this mains cable and discarding their existing hi-end Nordost mains cables. Basically it is a 6mm2 copper 3 core. Significantly thicker than your average mains cable for better flow. Unshielded because shielding sits on the sound a bit. Apparently this thing makes your system sing. The good bit is that it only costs £25.00 UK POUNDS to make up.
