You joke, but Moore hasn’t conceded the race and is asking for a recount. The State said no problem, as long as he is willing to pay for it (because it is outside of the margin that would automatically trigger a recount).

I wouldn't have expected less. :). No reason for the high road now!!

My guess would be that many of the, as you call them "bible-thumping voters could not bring themselves to vote for or allow a senator that believes that there is nothing wrong with letting a child begin the birthing process and then be killed by having it's spinal cord and brain ripped apart.

Not a Roy Moore supporter but the accusation of sex with a 14 year old 30+ years ago, as apposed to a person that is fine with murdering babies might need to be thrown in the mix.

Ah, the mythical “full-term abortion” as Kayla Moore called it. No such thing. But Jones clearly described his position on late term abortions:

"I fully support a woman's freedom to choose to what happens to her own body. Having said that, the law for decades has been that late-term procedures are generally restricted except in the case of medical necessity. That's what I support. I don't see any changes in that."

In other words, he supports current Alabama law with respect to abortions, which is already about as restrictive as the Supreme Court will allow. This issue is nothing more than an emotional straw man.

A new "low" for Trump. He calls a female Senator a whore. And most, except for a number of females, say nothing.

God bless America.

PS: I forgot to mention that it's the fifth year anniversary of the Sandy Hook massacre where 20 first graders and six staff were murdered and Congress has done nothing.

God bless America.

Re Sandy Hook. You are right. I guess when this type of thing happens I take a step back and ask 'why hasn't anything been done?' Is it the left so far left and the right so far right that everyone is paralyzed? I think it is. Which is why we need more centrist individuals in congress. I think the logic on the far right is 'if you want to take my AR-15 - what's next? My pistol? My shotgun? ' and the far left would say...'why yes - but you aren't supposed to know that'. So knowing that is why - leads me to believe that we need people that think like individuals - not party line puppets. Then maybe something can get done.

Ps God Bless America. :)

It's awfully quiet here lately. I guess with things not going well for Muller and his investigation. Obama and his allowing Hezbollah to bring Cocaine into the country and launder the money back to their own country via used car dealers. AG Sessions asking for more information on Uranium One to see if a Special Prosecutor should take over. To say nothing of a new tax package, some will have a Merry Christmas not so much for others.

Along with the Hezbollah Cocaine subject. How about Debbie Wasserman Schultz and her Pakistani IT person. He new little or nothing about IT and had his family all working for the government making more money than the average IT person in the government. His family also secured a loan and partnered with a ranking Hezbollah member and opened a used car dealership here. Quite an amazing coincidence wouldn't you say.

And now the Democrats are voting to allow the shut down the government. They will do anything to create some new propaganda and point the finger at the Republicans. At this point anything to create something to try to not have the new tax law be the news headline.

New tax law works well for me. 4% off of gross? I just can't get that much more deduction. I'm not rich. I don't have a million dollar mortgage. I don't pay 10k+ in property tax.

How nice. I don’t have to watch Fox News. I can just read Brad’s posts to get caught up on all the latest fake news. Did you notice how, the closer Mueller gets to the truth, the more the republicans want to go after Obama and Hillary, and, well, Mueller himself? The first two are obvious, but that last one takes the cake! Mueller, a registered republican, who was appointed U.S. Attorney by Reagan, appointed head of the FBI by Bush, and appointed Independent Counsel by Trump’s own republican Deputy A.G. And when he was appointed, all the republicans were gushing about what a great pick he was, how he was competent, fair and impartial. But now that the investigation is getting serious? Hoo boy, you would think Mueller was a long-haired hippie socialist green peace activist having a sexual threesome with Hillary and Obama! That sort of over-the-top hypocrisy is how you know this Republican Congress is perhaps the most corrupt in history.

As for the tax cut, though I will personally benefit from it handsomely, you won’t see me cheering. It will likely do to our economy the same thing that it did in Kansas. A year or two of outsized growth is not worth the pain that will come later. Anyone who doesn’t understand that has no clue regarding history or economics. Did anyone notice how quiet the deficit hawks were during this debate? Nary a peep out of the likes of Ted Cruz about this monstrous increase to the deficit. Don’t worry, they’ll come out in full force next year when they tell us they have to slash social security, welfare, and Medicaid because the deficit is so high.

And Brad, is it really so surprising that the democrats would be unwilling to act in a bipartisan manner on the budget negotiations given how they were completely shut out of the tax law debate?

Rich.

The Dems weren't shut out of the tax discussion. Pelosi called it Armageddon and just recently Frankenstein. So, they obviously had input. :) You know, when it comes to this type of obvious mud slinging - the Dems need to stay out of it. They just aren't as good at it as trump is. They are much better at covert and innuendo. You know - intelligent mud slinging? 'Frankenstein' give me a break. Lol.

Re the gov shutdown vote. I would really like to see the party split on that. I'm not sure a 'no vote' could be justified. What because you have some agenda item to push in with it? We shut down the government if the DACA issue isn't fixed?

How about this ... congress doesn't get paid and THEIR health insurance stops. Maybe that happens with a government shutdown - but I wouldn't be surprised if they wouldn't just pull the money from the hush fund they have to make personal law suits go away

Rich you know I have said I have no dog in this fight, only the truth but your statements are so staunch Dem story line it is funny.

That’s funny, Brad. For someone who has “no dog in this fight” you’re last comment sure did come across as blatant Fox News talking points. You come across as partisan as anyone else. Please explain what you find incorrect about any of my statements.

Rich I say that as you sound like any of the main stream liberal news stations.

When the vote had been taken and the senators and representatives were talking about what had happened and then going to sign the bill I channel hopped to see what was being covered. Fox was the only channel that was covering it live. every other station had other programing on.
What ever side you are on this was certainly a significant news worthy event. What was on every channel I looked at? More coverage of fires in California, the ongoing investigation of the Trump government and the weather. That is not a coincidence.

If the Trump administration is found guilty and locked up so be it. I do have preferences for how I would like to see our country run and very little attempt is being made by the Democrats and only slightly more by the Republicans.

Hi timm,

45 does have his strengths.

On a more serious note, have a wonderful holiday.

Best,

Gordon

Hi Brad,

It's called partisan politics and grid lock. The only thing that can fix this is "term limits" on members of Congress and we know that will never happen.

Have a great holiday.

Best,

Gordon

Interesting. A couple days back I was at the gym and CNN was on. All they were talking about was the trump Russia investigation and congress had just passed the tax reform.

My paycheck in feb is going to have quite a bit more in it. And I look at the brackets and can't see how many people could lose on this. So for Dems to say that people are going to pay more? Well I'll just say they either can't do math or don't understand that deductions aren't dollar for dollar. It makes them look bad. I get trying the 'oh things are going to be terrible in the future' ploy. But to say or imply that most Americans will pay more in taxes is just politics. People will see their pay and figure it out.

Brad,

I'll take that over watching sausage being made.

One does wonder why polls indicate that Americans are against the new tax bill by a two to one margin.

Gordon

PS: Maybe I'm missing something but why watch the vote when you know how it's going to end?
