These are great points rich. But there is so much muck it is difficult to sift thru it. The Dems know trump has a character flaw and they can nudge the bear easily. So I couldn't tell you what is real and what is the Dems getting him to step all over himself

Well, you are right about that one, timm. He can't seem to not step all over himself. From a recent interview:

Trump suggested that his threat of tapes may have intimidated Comey into being more honest in his recollection of events.

So he is actually openly admitting to witness intimidation! I honestly believe that Trump may very well be impeached over nothing more than obstruction of justice due to the ham-handed way he has handled all of this.

It's always teflon don s**t though. Intimidated so he is ' more honest'?? Something wrong with 'more honest'?

Whether it's effect was to make Comey's testimony "more honest" or not is irrelevant. Witness intimidation is illegal, period.

Haha. I love it. Well we shall see. I just want things to move forward beyond this quagmire of what we call 'politics'. Let's just do what's right and move on. Whatever that might be.

I understand. Unfortunately, these things take time, or rather have a way of dragging on. I think it took something like 18 months after they started the watergate investigation until Nixon resigned. So even if there is an open and shut case against Trump, we could be in this limbo for a year or longer. And if there isn't quite an open and shut case, we could be here for the remainder of Trump's first term. Either way, politicians are going to politic.

Rich is right. There will be no tapes. Did he ever say there were? I thought he said Comey better hope there are no tapes...

timm,

With all due respect, the intent to intimidate Comey before his testimony in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee is clear and undeniable.

Best,

Gordon

Nothing to be intimidated about if there were tapes and you told the truth is there? If the plan was to NOT tell the truth and this makes you tell the truth.seems like we have reached a common goal yes? The truth?. if it were the reverse - I'm intimidating you so you lie to the committee.... I get that. The puzzle fits. Throw the book at him. Again. How is it that a statement to force someone to tell the truth is intimidation? Every attorney, law enforcement official, the judicial committee would be guilty of this I would think. This seems so obvious and undeniable to some of you because you have a great dislike for trump. And this is what you want to happen.

"Biographer Timothy O’Brien knows exactly what booted FBI Director James Comey is going through. Like Comey, O’Brien was accused of lying by Donald Trump — and Trump threatened to reveal tapes of the conversations. But the litigious real estate developer eventually admitted in a deposition that he was the one who had misrepresented the truth 30 times — and acknowledged that he had no tapes. Trump sued O’Brien in 2005 for $5 billion*over his book TrumpNation: The Art of Being The Donald. But Trump lost the case, and ended up admitting to a litany of lies at his 2007 deposition.....

...When Trump finally admitted there were no tapes, O’Brien said his attorney asked him why he had lied. “He essentially said: ‘I wanted to intimidate him,’” O’Brien recalled."

timm,

When testifying, Comes indicated that he hoped there were tapes.

Regarding my dislike of 45, it's very simple.

I do not like and don't respect habitual, pathological liars who manipulate the truth to suit their own self interests.

Do you?

Best,

Gordon

Haha Gordon. No. I do not. I disliked obama for his socialist ideology favoring one class over another. Trump I dislike really for the same reasons you do. I find it ironic that Bono of all people is praising 43 these days.
But for me this discussion isn't about my dislike of an individual as I can set that aside. I think any president can be exposed if picked at enough. For me this is about getting things done, moving forward , not getting stuck in the culture we currently have in DC. Getting past that gridlock. Getting to a good health plan. Better tax code. Better national security. All these things get pushed to the side. I don't like it. And tgat is way more important to me than some personal political agenda.

You mean people like Hillary also, correct?

Agreed but I have little hope of ever getting there at this point in time or frankly, for the remainder of my life on this planet.

It's way too embedded / dysfunctional / institutioanalized in our current political environment and will take many years, if ever, to reverse the current trends.

Gordon

A bunch of people voted in Trump to put the US Government on a diet and instead the US Government got a lobotomy. It does matter where you lose the weight.

FYI, have you looked that the current Senate health bill?

1. Older people can expect their premiums to jump. The age multiplier is being increased from a max of 3 x to 5 x.
2. Tax breaks for people to pay for healthcare are going away.
3. Health insurance would no longer have to cover any minimum standards, so they can exclude the pricey stuff if they want to.
4. Other bad stuff like taking a big hole out of Medicare..

And why are they doing this ?

To cut the deficit? No...
To actually help people get lower premiums? No...

It all boils down to a big tax break for the very rich. However if you make over $200,000 a year you may see a bit of that tax break.

The bottom 98% of the country gets screwed over in terms of health insurance. Rates go up, any help to pay for it goes down, and many people will stop getting coverage and some of them have life threatening conditions.

From what I have heard and seen this new Health Care Bill is going to be another/continued government mandate disaster.

Senator Mike Lee wrote a good piece on why he won't vote for it. He said he wanted to compromise with the other senators but only needed one thing included in the Bill.

To allow people to be able to opt out of the Government program and purchase the policy they want from what ever company they want. My guess is some of the other 4 Senators that are refusing to vote yes would change their mind.

If the Republicans again don't do what they have run on to be elected AGAIN, pitch forks and flaming sticks should be in their near future. Well at least removed from office by vote next time.

Brad,

Whether you support the current bill or not and assuming it doesn't pass, it's another example of government dysfunctionality and the optics are extremely bad / embarrassing for the Republicans given their current control of all three branches.

Only question is who they will throw under the bus.

Gordon it goes farther than that and I know you realize it.
The current healthcare system that was developed by Washington is as bad as what is currently being proposed.
We need to separate ourselves from the politics of saying it's one side or the other and figure out how we fix the system.

If we can't all work together nothing is ever going to improve.

We elect an elitist group of 'bung holes' into our legislative branch of Gov't that does not have abide by 'our' health care rules, so ........will this problem 'ever' be solved........ me thinks not.

And that is clearly their hope,to keep playing us all against one another along with the media so that their jobs in the hierarchy as they see it are protected.
