I highly urge you to boycott Vinylphilemag.com

To all ML Club members:

I would just like to share this with you for a minute. Fellow member Rich Teer had made a visit down here a few months ago to give my system a listen and mostly ask me for information about starting an audio magazine of his own.

Jean and I took them out to dinner (picked up the check) and spent three hours giving him tips, ideas and a few industry contacts to get his publication off the ground, which was WAY more than I got when I started TONE. Believe me, my old boss Robert Harley at TAS was not thrilled that I was starting up a competitor...

But, I feel that everyone has their own vision and can make it work if they have the drive and a unique vision.

However, that's not the case here....

If you take a peek at www.vinylphilemag.com, you will notice that he's made an exact copy of the TONEAudio website, right down to the color scheme and font choice. We spent a lot of money on that site this year and I am beyond appalled that this person would not only ask me for information repeatedly, but then just outright steal the design of our website.

I know you are all humans with free will and can do as you please, but I highly urge you to not visit this site. I'm still just in shock that someone could be this underhanded.

As always, thank you for your support.

The site you have linked to is an absolute clunker with no resemblance to your site. Are we seeing something different to what you have seen. Have you definitely got this right Jeff?

Are you guys in OZ seeing a mostly black site with just a little text......the site looks entirely different here in the States.:D

Well so far so bad - I have tried to become a member and have been told that I have been emailed a password. No such luck. I wanted to get into the members area to see if the design changed.

Yes - how does that work? Different site for different IP addresses?

Kevin

Are you seeing the black site - I may have misunderstood you. The site is black with red navigation boxes.

Kevin

Yeah, as the inventors of the Internet we are constantly working to keep the good stuff within the US borders.....with the exception of Hawaii, and Puerto Rico, Gaum, Somoa, Alaska...scatch Alaska.....Canada, Iceland...okay now I have forgotten how that works, I think I have been left out of the loop again.:D

The site looks different from TonePub's from what I can tell.... Did I just get Punked? :D

Ouch - that hurts. Where does copyright start and finish or as per usual would this be a deepest pockets issue.

Well, I see he's taken the banners down, that's a start. We'll see how the first "issue" looks. I've already talked to two very good friends of mine that are very high powered copyright infringement attorneys.

Jeff - I appreciate you will be feeling totally ****ed off. Should you perhaps change the title of this thread to avoid implicating the British vinylphile website originally linked to.

Kevin

Pretty close, it's one thing to rip-off a porn site but one that people will defend, serious balls.
