Reverb,
Have you heard any updates from Oppo regarding the release of the Early Adopter Program? Perhaps, they'll make an announcement at CES? They definitely need to have these on the streets before other universal blu-ray players start flooding the market.

Well Denon has officially increased the msrp from the targeted $3800 to $4200. Even though this player is a tad too over priced, I'm still getting one. Everything that this player offers including the use of the just released AKM AK 4399 DAC's make this a truly top end product.

Here's a video from day 2 of CES that shows the new player. The segment with the player is at the end of the program so you'll need to skip past the other gadgets.:)

Here's an interview with Denon's Jeff Talmadge discussing this new player:

Very nice, Seth! Do let us know how you like it. Not anxious to replace my 3800, but you never know...

You'll use the analog outs to take best advantage of those nice DAC's, yes?

Yes I'll defininitely be using the analog outs (balanced XLR) for 2 channel CD listening. Right now I mainly listen to streamed music, but I still do spin CD's from time to time. And if the DAC section in this player is as good as I think it's going to be, CD's should sound phenomenal.:) In preparation of the player I just got a pair of Audioquest Columbia balanced XLR cables.

SACD/DVD-A, will be connected via Denon Link, and Blu-ray, HD DVD, and DVD, will be connected via HDMI.

This thing is going to be a no holds barred high end machine geared toward the audiophile/videophile who wants the absolute best of the best.

Here's an up close look at the transport mechanism of this new player.
