Off Track

I have a fairly low hour MC 201 SACD player that is having some problems tracking SACDs. It seems to be doing okay with regular CDs but it will spin or lose track, skip to the next song in mid track, or just freeze.

Anyone have any advice sort of shipping the player back or taking it in for service?

Are we talking about a McIntosh 201? If we are, call Chuck Hinton at customer service. He will send you a firmware update that should fix any glitches. My first 201 would not take the update so Mac replaced the machine. 2 weeks later they sent me the cd to upgrade the firmware. After that was done, I had nothing but great music come out it. Only in isolated cases did it skip and 9 times out of 10 it was a dirty or scratched CD/SACD.

Thanks Gordon and yes it is a McIntosh 201 so I will chase this down. Appreciate the help.
