i'm looking for a product called "hum buster". it's a black box (literally :) ) that gets rid of hum, particularly 60Hz.

i'm pretty sure that i saw it here on this site, and i'm pretty sure that i bookmarked the site, but i can't find it in my bookmarks or the search function here. so either i'm blind or my meds need adjusting.

can someone help me here?

Don't know if this will help you, but a few years ago we had the power company come out and check the power lines (pole to house). Had they not found a problem we would of been charged for their time. They found that an animal had chewed the Ground Line to the house, and replaced it free of charge. No more hum, no more dim lights browning out.

Before you spend any money make sure your house is properly grounded.

Note: Much of the ground wire is bare, exposed and oxidizing - this is normal. Chewed half way through and dangling in the wind is not normal.

Here's PS Audio's Hum Buster. I ocasionally see them show up on Audiogon. Don't remember if I've seen one on ebay yet.

From PS Audio's website:
http://www.psaudio.com/products/upchb.asp

Two for sale on Audiogon:

I'm not at all associated with PS Audio. I own a bit of their stuff. I just follow PS Audio, ML, and a couple of other companies used/new equipment on ebay and audiogon daily looking for the "can't pass that up" deal.

PS Audio Hum Buster will not stop ground loop. I had a bad ground loop and tried many products the only one I found that worked and it worked perfectly was Hum-X by Ebtech pluged it in hum disappeared!

That looks a little like the "Quiet Line" by AudioPrism, which is a neat thing to have )have four of them in the house) - but not a hum problem solver.

I use the quiet line to, They do not solve hums this product does. It is made with one purpose to elimnate ground loop hum. It is in my system right now and no hum. Remove it and the hum comes back and it is loud.

I needed one of those for my old apartment 20 years ago. Beautiful old building with a slate roof - they tore it down to build a strip mall.:(

All I can say is I had a bad groud loop you would here it over the audio sound. It was loud. I pluged this thing in plugged my AVR in to it and the sound was gone. Will it always work that well ????? But it is worth the try. I think I paid like $40

bingo! that's the one.

we have a problem at work with hum being heard at the remote sites during our staff updates over conference phones.

i've tossed some line-level isolation transformers at them (fixed hum in my rear channels), but i was really trying to remember the ebtech solutions.

thanks Taz.

ahhh slate roofs...

in London Ont they were all through the downtown core. and they lasted forevever, unfortunately the nails didn't. so as the nails corroded the indevidual tiles would slide down the roof unexpectedly and smash on the ground below.

i was real happy when people took them down and then back up with better nails. just a beautiful roof treatment.
