Amps and CDP spacing

I heard many years ago, that you shouldn't have your CDP sitting directly on top of your amp(s), due to the magnets inside as they can effect the sound.

Has ayone else heard this argument? Is there any truth to it?

I haven't heard this reason before, but I wouldn't do it due to the heat from the amp affecting the CD Player and also the CD Player affecting the amp's cooling. I would however place the amp on top of the CD Player as the weight of the amp provides some decent chassis deadening to the CD Player, although if you're a purist you would keep the two well seperate!
