As much as I tried to resist it as another mindless endeavor, I can't resist TTs. I melt every time a violin or brass or baritone vocals are played on a TT. Given that I have no TT s/w, it will be mindless to invest too much in the s/w except for favorite 100 or so classical LPs. But of course then why not wait another 5 years and buy a cheap R2R and focus on collecting my favorite R2Rs over time, with 20k spread over 5 years or so. Lampi DSD is closest in tone to TT, and for complex symphonies like Mahler locks images in space better, but tone of vinyl is just superb.

It still has the magic undoubtedly. The physicality and such romantic natural music ... Girl from Ipanema at 45rpm via updated Linn LP12 and Transfiguration Proteus and Moon phono stage mmmm. CD imaging can be a bit hyper compared to more natural vinyl sound compared with live.... Yes? These days lots of media are fab... But never sad with vinyl sound especially that tone...

Just buy an existing old cool deck and have a specialist bring it back to life maybe.

Lampi IMHO will always be better no matter what you get but switching to a completely different source is fun, just for the total change in presentation .

Play a few vinyl albums and appreciate the marked difference, then switch back to the Lampi.

A change is as good as a rest.

Have to fess though my TT has mainly been sitting with the weeds for a long time now.

yes................part of the sex appeal of analog is the TT itself, the best digital, while sounding superb presents one with 'zero' eye candy, whereas a gorgeous analog rig satisfies all the senses !!

The world is better with bling if you like bling :)

Personally I put all my equipment out of site except the speakers and while I really like how they look, I would hide them too if it were an option.

Anyone have a cloaking device for sale ?

Don't look then.
Thank you for the advice Adam. I'll consider your input.

PS: No doubt that TT's have much more visual appeal than their CD player counterparts except as noted above.

No problem Gordon. Likewise, thank you for your advice in post #5.

You're the highest poster on this thread. 5 posts including current posts and deleted posts.

You're certainly making a lot of posts for someone who finds the whole topic "Yawn".

I have no interest in engaging you in a hostile exchange.

Please go elsewhere if that is what you wish.

Other forums love that crap.

As has my CD player. I really only listen to LPs and HiRes from a laptop through a Schiit Loki. Nothing matches a TT for an emotional attachment to the music IMO.

A lot of people will feel the same. The only thing I will say is try a Lampi Big 7. It will be a different world to the Schiit.

Justin, do you know what type of chip is used in the Lampizator for the DAC function.....is it R-2R or Delta-Sigma? Audio Note swears by R-2R. BTW, Mr. Lampi had good things to say about Audio Note DACs in a post I read somewhere.

There is an option to get R2R or improved amanero board for PCM. His dsd is unique and chip less. I heard the R2R, much cleaner and focused than mine, but the improved amanero supposedly as good.

I have heard the AN dac 5 but not compared. I have not liked any of their speakers at all, and you cab check with Ron for an additional opinion, but the airtight and Avant garde amps blew away the AN amp with the trios. Both AN and air tight were 9w 300b, the former too coloured to sound real, and very low control relative to airtight. I haven't liked kondo m7 either.
