This is my first posting and I'm anxiously awaiting my first pair of MLs (Source) to arrive in Feb. They will be replacing the Infinity Modulus satellites w/ ribbon tweeters, based on the IRS beta towers, that I've had since the early 90's. The Modulus sats will live on in home theater duties but the ML Sources will be the main two channel stereo setup.

To that end what type of amplification do the Sources require. I have read that the MLs have traditionally been quite tough on amps and were power intensive. But I heard that the newer MLs have been improving on this. Will a Hafler xl-280 140 w/ch amp be okay?

Certainly a good place to start...

See how it sounds, listen for a while and decide what you'd like to improve from there. That's certainly a good way to get the speakers broken in and experiment with placement.

Enjoy!

I ended up getting the upgrade bug even before I received my Sources...

Like any ML enthusiast would I went ahead and cancelled my order for the Sources and moved up a couple of notches to a pair of Vistas.

They've been hooked up to a Parasound amp for a few days now and after fidgeting with the positioning are really starting to open up and produce the ML sound that I had experienced at the audio shops/shows in the past.

Frist welcome to our nightmare....you would be surprised how many guys and girls, come down with 'Upgradeitis' although it usually happens after they get their first pair of MLs not before. You must be especially susceptable and most likely have an advanced case of 'Joeyitis', not too worry it is not fatal but in our hobby it could be called terminal, hopefully gold.

As Tonepub advised, listen to a couple different amps and be sure to enjoy the journey. You will not so much find the answer you seek on the first try, so just enjoy the trip and in the end you can .........never mind just make sure you listen to the music.
