Hi, first time poster here. I'm looking closely at selling my McIntosh XLS340 speakers and replacing them with the Ethos (Ethoses?). I've already auditioned them in the store and they just blow away what I have now. Part of the attraction is the powered bass units, which means I can discard a very old Velodyne sub that the thin Mac speakers need even for 2-channel listening (I have a newer Velodyne that kicks in only for 5.1). I've read that ML speakers are picky about where they're placed. My room is very large, with a front cathedral ceiling about 15' high. Because of a wall unit plus screen stand and the fact that people walk in front of them, I'm forced to position the speakers about 11' apart. The distance of each from the main listening position (mine) is about 13', an isoceles triangle. I could separate the speakers further to get closer to an equilateral triangle if that helps the imaging. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
