I posted this over in the Tivo Community Forum site, but thought that people here might like it too.
Doritos was sponsoring a contest where amateurs could submit a Superbowl commercial:

They picked the best five from the ones that were submitted, then let people vote for their favorite on the web. A couple of people from my area are/were in the final five. Their ad cost a total of $12.79 to produce. A 30-second Superbowl ad slot costs an average of $2.6M.
The locally-produced ad is the "Live the Flavor" commercial at the site above. They filmed it at the Waverly Place shopping center about five miles from where I live. Note the curved blue metal roofs as seen in the aerial Google maps image below:
