OLD LYME, Conn. – May 19, 2010 – Late during the evening of 17 May 2010, only a few days after his 98th birthday, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Fritz Sennheiser, audio pioneer and founder of today's Sennheiser electronic GmbH & Co. KG, passed away. The audio industry has lost a huge figure, not only in terms of his technical expertise but also in terms of his humanity.

May he RIP. I admired him for being one of precious few true "Golden Ear"

in the area of spatial capture and reproduction with his fine line of microphones and headphones.

Back in the day, he offered for a mere $21 in terms of sonic quality that a $150 Koss could not achieve.

Over the years, no one was ever able to bridge that gap in terms of sound, nor bang for the buck.

My first set of 'professional' mics were Senns. I lamented his death today with an old friend whom hooked me on the Sennheiser sound way back when...

My first headphones were the HD-414s. Great little phones. I think I replaced the foam cushions about six times.:D
