Ex-Mullard Blackburn facility to begin new valve manufacture

Dave, I believe we both baselined with Jim's recommendations i.e. GL KT88s/RFT 12AU7/RCA black plate 12AX7. Last year, I swapped the RFT's for NOS black glass Tung Sols for a marked improvement in overall musicality. The Tech Tubes beat the snot out of the RCA's, if you want accuracy/clarity and don't want that tube to add any midrange push. Having said this, I never found the RCA's to be particularly lush, but they do have a slight push in the midrange not found in the Tech Tubes.

In the end, it's all about personal taste and synergies, of course.

Bummer. Wish I'd purchased a spare pair, or two, and I was definitely looking forward to their 12AT7.

Definate bummer - and they were going to do power tubes - KT88, EL84 etc too.

They have a room booked at the show I am going to on Saturday, which must be paid up - if they are flogging any stock, I'll get some.

Pretty annoyed to see this happen.
