Very gimicky, IMHO. 3D video has been around for a long time, but has never taken off in the mainstream. However, with plummetting margins, consumer electronics companies need something new to sell. They are placing their hopes on 3D TV. I'm sure they will get some traction, but I doubt it...

btw, Sonos has audio inputs, which would allow you to distribute vinyl, but obviously quality would be comprimised. For background music, probably not an issue.

I did something similar, using Sonos. I bought the unamplified controllers, paired with older signal sensing Rotel amps, and B&W bookshelf speakers. Outside, paired with Niles speakers. Good bang for the buck, particularly for back ground music. Any additional budget will get filtered back...
