Both are around 5k new but Vantage was almost 20 years ago. Considering inflation of 60% from 2005, is the ESL X as good due to better design assuming the parts must be cheaper? I've been very happy with my Vantage's for 15 years but... you know...someday :-)

I took a second look and you are probably correct. MSRP is $7000 which would be one speaker. Still not a bad deal for a new set. If i remember correct the 803d's were close to $10k just a few months ago. I wonder if a stronger US dollar would make them less expensive?

I must say the new B&W diamond tweeter is some of the best treble I have ever heard. It was 803d with all Ayre electronics. My then current Aeons i's beat them in midrange and bass. I susspect 802 is better in that respect. Definative audio in Seattle has a pair of 802D's available today only...

At least for us in the States the price increase at 8% will be no where near the increase we saw in European goods the last couple years.

This browser is way faster than IE or Firefox. Plus it will always check your spelling which is great for someone like me. I highly recommend it.

Vantage has a 35hz adjustment on the back of the speaker. I could have been out of adjustment.

I would definately be interested in upgrading the crossover of my Vantages if would provide significant improvement. How hard would this be and where would you find out what to use and how to do it? Of course if this voids the factory warranty I would leave it alone.

Is that Vista or Vantage? Vantage in theory would not benefit from bi-amp.

Wow, those boxes look so very close to a disaster. When I recieved my Vantages via FedEx ground freight they came on a pallet and not a single dent in the box. Great to see the speakers made it in good shape:musicnote:
