The summits are here!!!

Oh my! My wife just called. Tonight after work I head up to pick THEM up!

The amp has not arrived yet, and we have not even ordered the cabling yet...

Think I'll be able to run them on my yamaha rxv1600 until the krell comes? :p I intend to try!

This is going to be the longest day of work ever...

Hola dicocarp...congratulations with you new Summits. They are one of the best speakers of the whole world regardless of price. They are very friendly to use, try you Yamaha with no problem...then, when the new electronics arrives, just change it. Using them will break-in them for good. The Yamaha will not harm them...enjoy your new sound!!! Happy listening,
Roberto.

we'll of course, need audio porn and require pictures !!!

Of course. :) Tonight will probably just be a cell phone picture. I think the digicam needs charging. Better pictures to follow!

That's what I figured. Good enough for some breaking in. Not to mention it will keep me sane.. I can't imagine just staring at these without sound hehe!

Longest work day ever...

I'm in UR delivery company stealing UR summits!

Just kidding, congratulations on your new purchase. I have to admit I'm very jealous, I would love a pair of Summits to go with my lone Fresco.

Congrats Disco! One suggestion... take some digital pix while unpacking, so you'll know how to REPACK them if ever moving, or otherwise shipping them.

Disco Man, CONGRATS !!! your ears will soon be in heaven !!

Big congratulations. Now you know how I felt when I was finally able to pick my Summits up and then had to wait three weeks to put them in my system! I'm telling ya, it was KILLING me!

On the other hand, it was absolutely worth the wait. I was completely blown away at how good they were for music (I bought them used and they were already broken in). You're going to LOVE 'EM.

That's a great idea sleepysurf. I have one more to unpack.

My two first impressions: 1. The wenge is absolutely gorgeous. 2. These things are freaking heavy.

Here's a TERRIBLE teaser cell phone pic of the one I unpacked next to one of my clarities. I promise, in the next day or two I'll take some pics with the real camera.

I walked them, but only by grabbing the bottom of the box, NOT the stat panel. I still like the furniture sliders though.

You know what...

I've spent 20 seconds positioning them. They're being played on a very underpowered amp (yamaha receiver!). They're not burned in yet.

They still blow the doors off my clarities. :)

Congrats!!

Hi Disco,

You are about to enter the wonderful "Summit" world. As a starting point and something to be aware of as you fine tune the sound, be aware that the two x-over settings on the back of the Summits have an enormous impact on how the speaker will sound. Once you get close, you'll find that a 1/4DB adjustment will definitely be audible.

I found it easier to start at a "lower" bass level (more attenuation) and then work your way slowly up, gradually increasing the x-over levels in 1/4 to 1/2 DB increments until you get the right amount of mid bass and lower bass foundation. If the bass settings are too high, you'll compromise the midrange transparency, quickness, and soundstage dimensions.

Enjoy the ride and don't stay up too late tonight. :rocker:

Congratulations on your new speakers. You will love them as much as I do, no doubt. I can't wait to see better pictures of the wenge finish!

Oh.... in my excitement, I almost forgot...

Welcome to the Summit cult... *secret Summit handshake*.

;) :D

Hey Disco,

Welcome to the Summit gang!
I foresee the start of more spending to come. I was happy with my system for about 13 years till I got my Summits. But within 6 months, I find every of the components in the system replaced. Am lucky not to have landed in the poor house. :D :D
