Cherian and other PS3 owners, if you use your PS3 for tasks other than gaming, e.g. BD video, and have a universal remote, check out this new IR remote with IR USB dongle for the PS3:
@ Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Playstation-3...45?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1182473428&sr=8-1
@ Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16879213018

It works, and that includes the directional arrows! Considering its low price the Nyko remote looks and feels quite good but the real reason to buy it is for training universal remotes.

I have been using my universal remote, a Harmony 880, since Monday to control the PS3. I can navigate the crossbar without loss of functionality. Control of movies is complete. There is some tolerable lag between pressing a button on the universal remote and the response by the PS3. Other than that, perfect. Besides, there is no lag when using the Nyko remote.

Thanks for the headsup. I have the BT OEM remote from Sony. But a IR remote would come in handy. Then I can go back to one remote for everything.

Since my last post I have been using the Harmony 880 exclusively for all BD movie and setup related remote control needs. It really works that well. The only times I use the PS3 controller are when I need to display photos from a memory card. Using two joysticks to control pan and zoom is ultra convenient.
