    Got the Subwoofer bug...

I use a svs sb-16 ultra subwoofer with a jl audio f112 subwoofer in my home theater. The SVS sb 16 subwoofer is not boomy at all and will match up with the quality of my jl audio f112/f110 - i also have a jl audio f110 subwoofer in my 2 channel system. I would buy another svs sb-16 ultra...

ARC (Anthem Room Correction) and PBK (Perfect Bass Kit) measurements and discussion

I am quite impressed with the Anthem arc 2 room correction. I found Arc 2 the only room correction i tried that didnt eq my system too bright. After running the simple pc Arc 2 program, bass bloat was gone and ringing (room modes ) were improved enough where bass traps were not really necessary...

How far to position ML Stage from front wall

To be more specific, will the ML Stage sound better (more transparent / Larger soundstage/ depth) - moved out a few feet from the front wall.

How far to position ML Stage from front wall

Would you need traps or panels behind the ML stage if it was moved further out into the room. I already have 6 bass traps and two panels in my room already.

How far to position ML Stage from front wall

I have a new ML Stage center channel coming this week and have a question about how far to position the center channel from the front wall. I will be using ML Vantage speakers for my mains with a JL F112 Fathom subwoofer. My ML Vantages are set up 4 ft. from the front wall. Since electrostatic...

    Ayre V5xe vs. Mac MC452

Why do you say these particular amps would be less than zero with Martin logan speakers? The Mac would drive these speakers with excellent sound and so would the Arye. JMHO

So, do I get ML EM-ESLs or Magnapan 1.7s?

McIntosh SS amplifier house sound =smooth + add Mac tube preamp= smoother. Intentional system matching to achieve system synergy. This is my personal preference in sound but others prefer leaner presentation. No one setup is correct, only what your ears prefer. IMHO

So, do I get ML EM-ESLs or Magnapan 1.7s?

In my experience, the problem is usually the room. Solution: Room treatments, speaker positioning, bass traps etc. JMHO

    distance from back wall

Don't forget room treatment: Bass Traps. A couple of corner traps will help. Bass Traps can reduce glare and improve the soundstage. Try real traps or GIK. Its also easy to build bass traps. Check Real Traps web site or U tube. I also would add a floor rug.

So, do I get ML EM-ESLs or Magnapan 1.7s?

I have both speakers: Magnepan 1.7 and ML Vantage. I disagree that the Magnepan 1.7 speakers are harsh and flat. Not my experience at all. The 1.7 has less bass but I use a JL audio f110 and now you have a pretty nice combo with great bass at approximately the same price as a pair of ML...

    System #358 (CLX, Stage, Motif)

Really? It was obvious to me he is proud of his system as all of us are. Negative to me also. Doesn't anybody else who have been posting here for yrs. notice how many member the Martin Logan club has lost in the last couple of yrs. It wouldn't have been that hard not to comment on his video...

    break the flashlight?

You're welcome, but remember it is different for every room. My Vantages sound best to me when I have 4" thick bass traps behind them. Other people prefer diffusion. Have fun experimenting with toe in and just as important to me is fixing the room. JMHO

    break the flashlight?

After I performed the flashlight technique and started with the speakers 6 ft. out from the wall, my ML Vantages seemed too bright. With weeks of tweeking and 12 bass traps put in my room, I was satisfied with the sound. Surprising for me, I preferred the Vantages without any toe in at all and...

    Summit X midrange

I also believe this is a brightness issue. In one review of the Summit X the reviewer changed the toe in to almost no toe in to relieve this brightness problem. I tried it on my Vantages and it helped quite a bit. Trying absorbion behind the speakers also help.

    Maggies in the Main Room

The Vantages are more transparent with much lower bass response. It depends on what type of music you like but for me I need more bass than the Magnepan 1.7 speaker supply. The Magnepan 1.7 bass tone I prefer but it does not go low enough for the music I like. .... But add a JL Audio F110 to the...

    Maggies in the Main Room

Just a thought: I own the Magnepan 1.7 speakers & Martin Logan Vantage speakers. I would match performance of the Magnepan 1.7 speakers when you add a JL audio f110 / f112 sub with any speaker I heard up to around $10,000. You add a quality sub to Magnepan 1.7 speakers with good results just...

    Subwoofer questions

I use a JL Audio F110 and a JL Audio F112 in another system. The JL f112 goes a little lower but the F110 is so precise and accurate that I would prefer 1 or 2 JL f110 subs in a 2 channel system. If you are using it with HT system, the F112 would be better. The JL subs are really easy to dial...

New Summit X Review in TAS - Better than any dynamic speaker under $40K

Jonathan Valin also reviewed the Magnepan 1.7 speakers without subs also ( all he said was good luck to that). I currently run my Magnepan 1.7 's with a JL Audio F110 sub and my ML Vantages with a JL Audio f112 sub. JL Audio subs add quite a bit to my speakers blending quite well in my opinion...

    Subwoofer connection advice

The JL f100 is the only sub I have heard that doesn't have that sub bass "bloom". Very accurate and fast. I would say that if you have main speakers that only go down to 40 - 50hz. a JL f110 sub is your answer. I use the JL F110 sub with the Magnepan 1.7 speakers for 2 channel only. It is...

    Subwoofer connection advice

I bought my JL f110 used from Jeff(tonepub) for an extremely fair price and it came in perfect shape as described. I need a second JL F112/F113 sub for my theatre/ multi-channel music area in another room. I just sold my ML Grotto this week.
