Justin , thanks for taking the time to share your experience, I feel like I was at the show. Did they have the Scaena set up there if so what were your thoughts ?

Thanks for all the kind comments everyone - and no, no Scaena set up according to me or the catalogue.

Well, on the touchy subject of Burmester - this is the best I have ever heard it sound. Over the years I have heard a few Burmester set ups and generally they have been well below expectations, especially considering the price of the stuff. But this little setup sounded pretty good. Some wooden boxiness colouration from those speakers, I thought, but all in all, not too bad. A well resolved, detailed sound overall - unusual. Something must be wrong:ROFL: But if you factor in the price of the stuff, it wouldn't be a realistic port of call, IMHO. Sadly, the same is true of many of the systems at the show. Just unreal expensive. Still that's why you go - to hear & see the supposed "best".

What needs to be realised is that the performance of many of these systems can be matched or gotten close to by spending far, far less money.

MBL Cellist specially for Gordon. He seems pretty accomplished to me - but I'm no expert - far from it. Enjoy. First video is the best, I think.

Some T&A items on display only. Must admit I do like the looks of it. The stuff in the pics is described here: T&A V Series

I spent a lot of time in this room on Saturday, listening to the AMR 77.1 and AMR amp, the Dr Feikert/Kuzma and Lyra Delos. The speakers were remarkable, I felt. The AMR components sounded great too. Feikert TTs were all over the show, with Kuzma arms. Great sounding TT, but got a bit bored of seeing them eveywhere.

The speakers were these: Kiso. Only two per channel, held in a stand one upside down on top of another. I tapped the cabinets and was amazed. The wood is extremely thin/ And sat there perplexed as to how well they were working.

This system produced a lovely sound. Spacious, with considrable depth and fantatstic image placement. An easy listen, but packed full of detail. You could just tell everyone who was in the room thought it compelling. And they weren't leaving. A good sign.

The Delos seems to be a great cartridge, I must say.

I went back on Sunday and the amp had been changed to what looked like a prototype - top off, looking a bit incomplete/unfinished. The magic was gone, I felt. It certainly indicated that in this system, the AMR amp was doing a great job. I didn't stay long.

Soulution / Magico M3 video that I should have posted earlier. Love that Beat Hotel track - sounds very "Lou Reed" to me, though.

A few Wilson Benesch and AudioNet components. This system left me cold, as their stuff usually does back home at the Bristol shows. I just don't ever like the sound their systems make - I find it cold and unappealing. The speakers are prohibitively expensive for the performance on offer. Well made and quite nice looking, however. Torus sub is always an interesting sight to behold.

The sales rep kindly took the platter off the TT for what he described as a "cool shot". Made me smile & top marks for doing so.

AudioPax / Audio Stone. The TT is built into the granite rack. Pretty cool, with that interesting parallel tracker I posted in the tasty gear thread ages ago.

I didn't spend long in here so no comments on the sound. The AudioAero La Source was the CDP used in the AvantGarde room.

Just had a request from Joe Roberts to use the videos I posted on YouTube on the Silbatone site. The answer was yes for exhibiting in such a cool room.:cool::cool:

KEF Blades unheard so no comments. Pic for Tim. One day I'll hear the things. They do look cool.

As I said earlier, I was quite impressed by the BluRay presentation is this room. Sonically and visually.

Cessaro. Checked in here a few times, expecting better things. Didn't get them. Shame - they looked promising.

Done for today - more tomoz or over the weekend.

I am tempted to point out the phonetic connotation of "horzone"... but I'll refrain in deference to high moral ground (an elevation in which I don't seem to own any real-estate whatsoever)

Well, I had to stop off at Amsterdam airport for three hours on the way back, but they wouldn't let me out to visit said zone...

Achtung Baby

Hi Justin,

A huge thanks for the pics and the time you spent uploading them, just brings back memories for me.

The white MBL gear! Well, Germans use just one colour in their homes, you guessed it, white ( any colour you like, as long as it is white!), this might explain it.

Geil is German for horny BTW, I am sure you heard that a lot from the locals at the show.

I just lust after Jochen Rake's Transrotor turntables, works of art, ueber Geil!

So you didn't head to the Englischer Garten then Justin? All those naked locals sunbathing either side of the Isar River in Münchens public (pubic?) park is always a surprise for visitors.

Danke also for the pics of the Fußgänger Zone in downtown München.

Prost

Jeff

Nope I missed the naked people Jeff - but at Clevedon beach down the road from here, the old girls (70+ - I kind you not) go swimming in the sea in the most adverse conditions (i.e freezing). But when they do so, they change in and out of their swimming costumes in full view of everyone. Now that is a sight to behold:D

Anyway - ATC - the only pair of speakers ever to have made me have to leave a room years ago at a local dealer, actually sounded pretty good at Munich. Here they are - the smaller black ones really were doing a good job. Didn't hear the biggger pair even though I went in the romm about 3 times, I think.

Restek kit was found all over the room.

Focal/Vitus had a big system and room. For some reason the sound of this system didn't leave a lasting impression on me. But it certainly did sound good and had big scale/weight etc - as you'd expect, really. There was also a smaller system that I didn't pay much attention too.

Notice the white Kuzma TT:D.
