    System #326 (Purity)

yeah, if I were using external amps, I wouldn't have a problem. I would just reverse polarity at the speaker terminals on the amp. But, since I run line level direct to the Purities, the signal would not be phase correctable in my case. I have wondered about the CJ home theater bypass, too...

    System #326 (Purity)

My previous two channel rig, before I had to sell it due to losing my job, consisted of a CJ PV15 pre-amp and a CJ MV60se amp, driving Von Schweikert VR-4jr speakers. I thought about putting a CJ preamp into my current system using home theater bypass. The only problem being CJ preamps are...

    System #326 (Purity)

I have not heard the Clarity's, sorry. The Purity is a great speaker, though. I use the internal amps, and they never run out of juice in my small listening area. I am sure they would be more than enough for a larger area, too. What else can I say? They sould like a great ML product...

    Ordered a Denon DVD-A1UDCI

That is an interesting comment. While I was the manager at the only really high-end audio store in Knoxville (that is, before it went out of business), we wanted to bring Meridian on-board, since our multi-millionaire top client, who basically kept us in business, had a Meridian setup in his...

    SqueezeBox Duet impressions

Yeah, I made sure of that one too. Once I seemingly got all the variables setup correctly... the sound through my DAC is absolutely amazing. I imagine that in a blind test, you could take any source in the sub 3k range (arbitrary number, I know), and be hard pressed to tell any difference.

    SqueezeBox Duet impressions

After further listening perhaps the transcoding was not the issue. I believe the major issue was that I had been using variable volume control on the digital output. Once I selected fixed volume, which according to the help file in the server software allows "perfect" digital passthrough...

    SqueezeBox Duet impressions

I have seen some 44.1/48 samplers... will keep an eye out... thanks for the heads up! Even though it downsamples, I am guessing is similar to the effect I perceive with HDTV resolutions. Take a 720p native display, and feed it good 1080i/p content, and it typically looks sharper and clearer...

    SqueezeBox Duet impressions

Yes, I have been meaning to try some high-rez files. I was using an M-Audio transit to get SPDIF output from my laptop, but it was a three day nightmare trying to diagnose audible digital errors. I finally gave up, ponied up the cash, and now couldn't be happier with the Squeezebox.

    SqueezeBox Duet impressions

Got one of the Duets. Pretty darn slick stuff. Easy as pie install, smoothless playback over my wireless network. Was worried at first, though, it sounded too "digital" and "thin". Connected via SPDIF to an Integra Research RDC-7 preamp, feeding ML Purity loudspeakers. Got to reading the...

    Rumble, pop and crack

FIXED! Had to ship it back to Jim at ML, but they took care of it in less than a day, and apparently it is already on the way back. A month with no music! Finally coming to a conclusion. Turns out it was a strange, never before seen issue with the device that manages the input source...

The Really Tasty Gear Thread - With Pictures!

From the retail store I once managed.. Sound and Cinema Photo is not that great, but some lusty gear from the store I managed until we closed... Sound and Cinema in Knoxville, TN... Dynaudio Confidence C4's, driven by a conrad-johnson Premier 350 Amp, SimAudio Moon P5 preamp, and SimAudio...

    Hello from Knoxville, TN

I have made a few posts already but have neglected to introduce myself. My name is Andrew, and am an "anything high-fidelity" aficionado. I used to manage one of the only high end 2-channel retail stores here in Knoxville, Sound and Cinema, until we lost our building to a car wash... long...

    Phantom Center Channel?

I have a small , private screening room that is only used by myself, with an occasional guest. I sit right in the sweet spot of my Logans, and I am not worried about imaging for anyone other than myself. The "Phantom" center image of the Logans on music is, I will say, sultry. I just don't...

    Rumble, pop and crack

New amp is on the way. ML support, specifically Jim Powers, is excellent. For those in the "know"... is the amp "modular", for easy removal and replacement? Thanks! Andrew

Any one else using the Wadia 170i transport?

Any idea how much better "modded" 170's are? Like the one sold by Great Northern Sounds? My understanding is the Wadia isn't exactly a low jitter device... that is an area that can be improved. My RDC-7 has an Apogee clock in it, so that is not such a big deal for me, except for my...

Any one else using the Wadia 170i transport?

I haven't tried anything else but the included remote... I typically set my iPod to shuffle, sit down and enjoy the music, using the remote for the occasional forward to the next track. I will be very interested to hear your comparision of the 170 with iPod to the Squeezebox.

Any one else using the Wadia 170i transport?

Just how close is the sound using the 170i and the 781i DAC, to straight CD playback through the 781?

Any one else using the Wadia 170i transport?

Casual listening.. yeah, I guess the idea of what is critical listening and casual is all relative! Lol! It is my main source at the moment. I would put it combined with my current DAC up against most sources in the under $3000 range, give or take a bit. Is it SimAudio Andromeda (my...
