    Go from ReQuest to what?

I understand your dilemma. I have been down that same road. I also had a pair of ReQuests, from about 2002 or so until about 2008. I bought them used. At the time, I couldn't afford a new pair of ML Summits. Those were the first ML speakers my wife and I heard at a dealer's showroom, and we...

New member. Thanks for having me.

Welcome to the forum! Longtime Martin-Logan owner here (ReQuests from 2002 - 2010, Summits 2010 - present). Lots of great information and very helpful folks here. I hope you enjoy yourself immensely.

    Hello from IL

Yes, I am farther south; about 35 miles southeast of St. Louis, MO. I understand about work and family; that's why I am where I am, too.

    Hello from IL

As others have said, welcome to the site. I am from Illinois, too, and have enjoyed ReQuests and later Summits for many years now. It sounds like you have a wonderful system. Enjoy, and welcome aboard!

    CLX Art To The Wall

Where I currently sit to listen to the Summits, my ears are 135 inches from the panels and 42 inches above the floor. Not really nearfield monitoring, in my book.

    CLX Art To The Wall

My previous MartinLogan ESLs (a pair of ReQuests I purchased back in the '90s) were, if memory serves, vertical. They sounded fantastic, albeit only from about 300 Hz up. (The low, mid- and upper bass were merely tolerable at best, due to that 12-inch acoustic suspension woofer, until I...

    CLX Art To The Wall

I have a pair of Martin Logan original Summits, with the panels each about 67 inches from the front wall and 49 inches from the respective side walls, spaced about 116 inches apart (from center of panel to center of panel). That has proven to be, by far, the best location I've yet tried...

    More Feet/Spike Advice

What size thread did you choose for your Xs? I have original Summits, and I want to try the Oregon DV spikes, too, but haven't yet figured out which thread size to order. Paul at Oregon DV suggested buying several bolts of varying sizes, trying them and see which one fits. The local hardware...

    Hello from Waterloo, IL

Hi, Dave, You may be in luck. The newer version of the Technics SL-1200G is the SL-1200GR. I believe the GR version lists for $1,700, as opposed to the $4,000 for the 1200G model. The actual street price may be even a little bit better. Mark

    Hello from Waterloo, IL

I totally understand. I am trying to talk my youngest son into following the same plan. With his two young children, demanding work schedule and active family life, he needs to simplify his life, and the newer, less expensive version of the Technics seems like the way to go. I went in the...

Gotta love that Aries 3! I am still using my original Aries. Runs like a champ!

    Hello from Waterloo, IL

Thanks! I have been a satisfied McIntosh owner since 1970 or so, when I purchased a second-hand MA6100. I still use it (in a secondary system) today. Despite its age, it still functions pretty well. I see you are an analog guy, too! Mark
