Considerations for speakers in open plan layout

That's exactly what the linear design is, low and wide.

Considerations for speakers in open plan layout

Yes, are working very closely with the builder, architect, and fireplace vendor to make sure that there is enough separation/insulation from the firebox using the guidelines they've provided. We chose a low, linear design to further separate those distances.

Considerations for speakers in open plan layout

Thanks for the good ideas! I do have a Stage center which I currently use, but I won't have a place for it on the fireplace wall under the TV. How/where do you have the C18 Focus mounted? I've also been looking at the in-walls for ATMOS, like what you suggest. Do you find the back speakers...

Considerations for speakers in open plan layout

I'm looking at options for placement of my speakers and home theatre in a new open plan layout with a fireplace wall. My L/R speakers are currently Spires which I plan to keep for the immediate future. Wondering what speakers to mount on the fireplace wall. There will be a large OLED there and...

Moving from Aerius i to Spire

Long-time owner of Spires! Love 'em! Congrats! Can you let me know the distance from panel to back wall? Mine are only 2.5 feet which is problematic but unavoidable in my current setup which produces an ultra-narrow sweet spot. Hopefully this will change with an impending move!

    In-wall vs ESL

Anybody have experience with ML’s in-wall speakers? I’m moving to a new place where the family room will have a fireplace where the TV goes. Originally thinking of keeping my Spires but quickly realized there’s no place for the Stage center in the new setup. I see that there’s a line of in wall...

Summit X - Solid State Amp Opinions

Thinking of using the Purifi 1ET400A for my Spires. Any recommendation on which to get, already in a box? I don't feel like shopping for a box and assembling, like I did years ago with a Hafler amp. That one did serve me very well with my previous ADS L710 speakers. But that was a long time ago...

    New Impression 11A's

From the Arcam website: The AVR600 in detail 120WPC continuous power output into 4 or 8 ohms loads (all 7 channels driven at 1kHz) Stereo output power over 150WPC into 4 or 8 ohms, 20Hz to 20kHz So when only using it for 2-channel stereo, you get the higher rating.

    New Impression 11A's

I've been running my Spire's using an Arcam AVR600. When in stereo direct mode (no processing of any kind) it's rated at 150w per channel for the stereo channels. This is AMPLE power for really good stereo listening! I've had ML and non-ML speaker owners marvel at the wonderful sound from my...

    Bryston 4B-ST

I'm personally not familiar with the brand, other than what I've read here and on other forums. However, I was intrigued by the trade-in, trade-up offer I read yesterday in my Audio Advisor catalog received in the mail. Yes, I still get these even though I haven't purchased from them in years...

    Positioning Logans in a room

You may want to experiment with the angle of the plantation shutters as you listen to your system. Some angles may be more effective at diffusing or redirecting the sound.

    Positioning Logans in a room

My setup and initial evaluation are similar to what you are asking about. I auditioned both the Vantage and Spire's and would highly recommend the Spires. I also have a sub (ML Depth) which I only use in 5.1 for movies/TV. Otherwise, for music I'm only using the Spires. I too have my Spires on...

Real Time Analyzer - Windows - Recommendations

I own XTZ and used if for several months, but this was a while ago. Can you summarize how OmniMic compares to XTZ? What features did you feel it had that were most advantageous?

McIntosh MEN220 or Lyngdorf RP-1/DPA-1 room correction

I have been reading with interest about several products based on the Lyngdorf RoomPerfect room correction system which is implemented in the company's RP-1 processor, DPA-1 preamp/processor and licensed to other manufacturers, like McIntosh for their MEN220. I know we are all continually...

    AVR advise

There's also the newer, slightly less expensive Arcam AVR500. This unit has slightly less power than the AVR600 and does not have preamp outs, so you can't later use it with an external amp. However, the MSRP is $3800 vs. $5000.

    AVR advise

Hi Mark, I use an Arcam AVR600 to drive my Spires. However, these already have amps driving the bass, so the amplification is mostly for the panel. The AVR is VERY musical and the video capabilities are excellent. However, you could buy separates for the same price. In my case I have limited...

    GIK acoustics versus RealTrap?

bkrakim, I'll be sure to put any general updates on this thread and will hopefully find local people who can do this type of work which I can share with you. Not only was the "cloud" done first rate, did you see the gabardine fabric covering the in-wall rigid fiberglass panels? First rate!

    GIK acoustics versus RealTrap?

adanny, I've also been struggling with the issue of acoustic treatments. I've bought several from both the companies being discussed and have returned most of the stuff. Honestly, it didn't make the noticeable difference I was expecting, and the look is well, less than satisfactory in my living...

    Stage as center with Spires?

I have a pair of Spires and have been my older non-ML center to good use. However, I'm thinking of possibly upgrading my center to a Stage for consistency in sound quality. I only use the center channel when watching movies or some of the new TV shows broadcast in 5.1. Otherwise I have a great...
