    Opinions Martin Logan Source

That's what I found, too. They said their latest ICE amp got it right. Sounded flat and lifeless. I have to finish follow up post on modding the Clarity. I listened to both the Source and Purity. My Claritys are now prominent in mid range and upper bass, where they were weakest. I would not...

    Help.... Blown Vista

yeah, I would never attempt to put 200 watts to my Clarity's, even though they are rated for it. There was an speaker shootout w Lou Reeds, where the Clarity fried. For the parties....I fire up the Klipsches.:band:

    Hello From Iraq

Chad, Honestly, I think you will find this more the norm with ML's unless you go megabuck. Lots of people use Sunfire amps with ML's.

    Hello From Iraq

like I said, true for the most part. exception to every rule.

    Hello From Iraq

For the most part, hard rock n roll is not Martin Logan's forte. Not that it doesn't sound good. They will not match the dynamics and drive of Klipsch floorstanders. Like horns they are very revealing as to what's a head of them. They also sound good with tube amps, and the hybrids can break the...

Making the Clarity deliver the goods

I rate the bass about a "D" on stock Clarity, with the mods I've done, I would rate them a solid "B''. Bass drivers are dipole, too! Sonic waves that are 180* out of phase, happen inside the cabinet. Thick or multi layer walls would be excellent. Not an option. Absorption is. It so happens that...

    Logos vs Cinema need help!

The Logos reminds me of a Cadilac Escalade grill. 600 bucks is a fair price. Gayle Sanders uses one in his 'home theater'. I'd like to mount mine in my truck grill...it would come in handy pulling up behind the yahoos who have converted there cars into annoying boom boxes.

Making the Clarity deliver the goods

Thanks for the explanation, JonFo. Most the things I'm doing are very practical means of reducing resonance in the cabinets. Ports, cab walls, crossovers, etc. will have there own frequency that they resonate(tuning fork effect). Even...

Making the Clarity deliver the goods

I think when Clarity first came out, Poly fill was thought to be best damping material. Times have changed. I installed 3/4" 3 layer acoustic foam from Parts Express. I did it in stages. There is three 'chambers' in each cab. The chamber directly behind the woofer benefits most by adding foam...

This is the end shot of speaker with baseplate. Plasti-clay is also applied on bottom. Really absorbs resonance.

    Tube Amp Owners - help

Good for you! Great way to gain knowledge of circuits. I would look into a fan. I use one on my U70. The amp is already overcrowded as is. Cooling fan will insure long tube life.

    Tube Amp Owners - help

I agree 1 tube watt Performs like 2-3 SS watt rating. I think it useful to know this, because speakers are mostly rated for SS gear. I've switched out SS and tube gear enough to know it holds true. I just switched back to my 40w rms tube unit from 115w rms Yamaha A/V. The tube is much more...

Another "What would you do?" Thread.

This is a link to an ongoing review I'm doing, we have been finding many of the same things! http://www.audiocircle.com/circles/index.php?topic=58195.0 Go about 8 responses down to see I've discovered almost the same exact things you speak of.

Nothing to see from the outside, but I am working on pics posting from photobucket. Size too limited here to receive pics. This should show plasti-clay on plastic baseplate.

Making the Clarity deliver the goods

why don't you guy's find something better to do, than muck up someone's post? Besides, I went listen to purity and source yesterday..no thanks...see more potential w my Clarity, already !

Making the Clarity deliver the goods

For test purposes I have raised the ML's about 5" from the floor, on the slates. I wanted to better pinpoint what changes are to the mids. The crossover is about 80hz now. To my surprise, I could now clearly hear a difference when I changed phase. Seems to me, anything done inside that cabinet...

Making the Clarity deliver the goods

Thanks risabet, We seem to be on the same track. I can reverse any changes I made so far..but want to explore the route I have took, further. I am much more satisfied w the Clarities' now.

Making the Clarity deliver the goods

Actually I do, that's why I have an Alesis Masterlink-9600. It also has a better DAC in it, than many CD/DVD players. I auditioned a couple of DAC's at Van Alstines, petty amazing what they can do for redbook format. He also played a 10" 45 on his 'longhorn' turntable through Song Towers...

Making the Clarity deliver the goods

You are right Fish Man, I have pics in the camera, and need to do some hook ups to get them into the computer. I have been doing things in steps. I try to compare change in one speaker to the other, than if I think that step worked, apply it to the other. It only becomes clear, when both...

Making the Clarity deliver the goods

They clearly, can be improved. They work well in smaller rooms driven by vintage tube equipment. Bigger is not always better in every case. I didn't look into modding because I wanted different speakers, This post is for those who want to see if more performance can be had from the Clarity.:rocker:
