It's just a little B&O Icepower amp module, as used in all the ML powered speakers, probably a 200ASC or similar. Its nothing too special.

Hi there - do you have Audyssey enabled on your Denon? I have a Stage but when I enabled Audyssey, on my Onkyo, the sound was thin & scratchy. Without Audyssey it is fine, and I believe it's a pretty good centre speaker. Regards

Hi - I don't know if this is helpful or relevant to your configuration at all, but I had a similar problem with my Stage too - it was sounding pinched, congested and was also prone to distort. I finally figured out that it was the Audyssey processing on my receiver which was messing everything...

I'm in the UK & have Summits too. Mine I've had for about 18 months, am using them with a Metronome CD player, ARC Ref 3 & HD220. I got mine after owning SL3's and Ascent i's.

True enough, but then I'd have needed a Ref 3 Pre, instead of an LS26!

Thanks all. I will be sure to post the results here, with pictures too, although the HD220 does look a little bland, visually, I think. If only I could have afforded the Ref equivalents though... sigh!

I have an Audio Research HD220 on order, to power my Summits. Just wondered if anyone else had tried out this combo? Thanks, Paul

This is only when the IcePower amp is used with a Vantage or Summit ie a ML speaker that also has an IcePower amp built in. Before I had Summits, I used a GCC500 without any issues first into my SL3s and from there into Ascent i's. When I got my Summits I did have a problem but have now got...

I agree, this is an interesting post. I posted on an identical subject about a year ago here, when I had just moved from a Krell FPB600 to a PS Audio GCC500 (Icepower, like most these days, Bel Canto included) to power my Ascent i's. I view it as a little futile to argue over which is best...

OK, precis: "vastly superior to previous ranges...", "open, clear, fast...", "great bass", "panel very well made, very strong", "Summit sounded wa-a-ay bigger than it looks". Not too easy to drive, needs a high current amp. Sounds as dynamic as a conventional speaker. They really disappear...

I have a GCC500 powering my Ascent i's & it works very well. I posted in another thread about it, so if you search on my name you can read my original comments. Basically, it replaced a Krell KRC HR pre and a FPB600 power amp, and I am very pleased with the results - it's not a worse sound...
