just a thought.
I know you guys don't know me since I don't usually partake in these forums, but here's another view from an outsider:
The basic thing you have to remember about squelching vibration in any physical system is that mass and structure play a role. If you could add as much mass to...
about the x-over
As complex as x-overs can get, keep in mind that something as simple as a blocking cap at the input of the amp driving the CLS's might be a best solution at least for the CLS part, and somewhat easy to impliment too. Relieving some of the bass response from stats is sometimes...
Another thing you might try is to elevate the CLS's about a foot off the floor
What exactly is it you think about the speaker elevation that improves the sound? Nothing apparant strikes me in the face about what could be happening, although something in the back of my mind tells me I should...
Thanks for the reply Jeff. Yes, there is a limited vertical dispersion, but big surprise given the fact that they are rather short compared to most people's height. I tend to sit in one place to enjoy anyway so the moving around aspect doesn't mean much to me. I suppose leaning the speaker back...
imaging
You know, you guys talk about the imaging on these stats and put a lot of effort into positioning and the like,..but I'd like to put in my 2 cents worth. I've been doing some amp development and I'm finding that the sound is coming together image and soundstage-wise on it's own, without...
I think EQ is valid since the ML speakers tend to have tone shaping in the stepup primaries. You'd have to know what you were doing but EQing low level would be preferencial I'd think. The downside is you'd probably have to come up with the circuit yourself as any offtheshelf unit would likely...
I've been out of following reviews for a long while and notice all speakers are megabucks. How is is possible to spend $85k on speakers?? I am unable to connect the dots. Are people really truly that nuts?
It seems to me much of it depends on how well either approach's circuit is designed and executed (fabricated). A monoblock has no excuse for being lesser than a stereo unit but how many monoblocks fail to do it all correctly? Plenty I bet. Lot's of hype out there and not enough honest/bright...
WOW! what a forum!!
Thanks for the input on this, it seems any number of people might be interested. I did get a reply from Jim Powers and a pdf file of the CLS schematic. How neat is that? It shows that the file did upload, so hopefully it will display ok.
Thank you for the replies, it's much appreciated. Nirvana was just a spur of the moment thing, but I got to thinking that I'm pretty lucky to have heard what I have heard before and it's still not over yet,..much left to do! I have reached the best sound I have ever witnessed with some hopped up...
Does anyone have a schematic of the electronics used in the CLS system? If anyone has done any mods/tweaks, I'd be open to enlightenment. I just set up my CLS's for the first time and peaked inside while doing some cleaning and couldn't help but notice at least a few components that could...
