Not sure about this thread on a hi-fi site, but if people want to see more, say so. And if the forum moderators don't say anything... well:)

As a Merc owner, can't help but love this one. Do they make 'em like they used to? You have to wonder....

She's a beauty Justin, but then in my book 1957 was arguably the "High Water mark" for styling in all the automotive industry.

Ferrari 225 - a class act. I'd take this over any modern day Ferrari... we'll leave it at that unless there are demands for more. Don't want to overstep the mark...

Love watching Top Gear! Show us more of that Merc - damn that's nice. They certainly don't make them like they used to!

Last good shot I have of it...

I really like that and the 225. Wish all the 225 photos were totally in focus - but that is just life.

Look at the length of the bonnet - absurd! The Jag's pretty long too...

There's a Gullwing in the background - but it is in a duff colour. I'd sort that out straight away if it were mine!

Martin Logan Vantage? No good, I am afraid. Meet the real Vantage:D This is a used one, BTW... most of what was on show was for sale.

Apparently, the Saudi's love this sort of colour... I'll explain later. The cat sez it delivers a knockout blow:)! Hard core types may remember that the cat is the avatar I joined the club with.

It's beautiful - stunning! As for the gullwing - duff colour or not, I'll still have it, thank you very much.

All yours - fly her away...

Now this is pretty fantastic in my book. Ferrari Dino. I saw one of these in OK condition for not much, to be honest. This one is probably worth quite a bit more.

Should have bought the cheapie - a few K would probably have seen it looking great.

Psssst... wanna go quick, for not too much dosh? Like, quicker than a motorbike?

Check this sucker out. This one has 300 BHP from a Honda Type R engine. Ignore Clarkson, the quoted spec. is 0-60 in 2.7 seconds.

It gets better, though - there is a 500 BHP version coming out. To see just how quick this is, be sure to watch the following YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaWoo82zNUA

Alright, okay, I'm sorry. European cars are way better than American ones. I know you know that:D. But just so you don't feel too neglected, here's something to make you feel better.

Don't even know what it is:D!

Oh - if you want an Ariel Atom (way faster than any US car in 500 BHP), you can buy them stateside. Jay Leno has one. He took Tom Cruise for a ride...

Wind up? Me? Never...:)

Justin....you are of kidding ????

But in case you're not it's a Big Block Corvette, circa 1966 I believe, not a "Bloomington Gold" (during it's restoration the Corvette script which should be above the drivers side headlight bucket is missing. This is an easy way to tell the difference between a '65 and a '66, if the script is slanted it's a '65 if it's upright it's a '66)

Also if it is a '65 it would be 396ci, '66 427ci

Edit.......I missed the louvers on the B pillar, it's '65, 396 Turbo Jet !

Actually, Dave (edit: sorry!), I didn't know with quite the precision you have just provided. And in all honesty, it is a lovely car.

I have been watching a lot of US car auctions on Rush HD. There's no doubt the Americans have made some fantastic cars in the past.

For a nice, practical everyday car, this would be rather nice, I feel.

I didn't know what it was either!

Must say though - it does NOT look American.......seems to have borrowed quite a few styling cues from the E-Type (and XK-140) oh, and even the MG-A.

Sorry - we just don't have American cars here...

You're obviously too young !

Dose not look American, OMG what a joke ! In this country we have a saying....baseball, apple pie and Chevrolet (well something like that anyways)

FWIW, the Corvette Stingray is THE American sportscar, FYI the car and I share the same birth year, and it has produced a new model every year since 1953 except one...1983.

Anyways you would be hard pressed to find anybody "old enough" that knows sports cars that would not recognize that classic styling.

Yes, possibly too young. Don't get me wrong - I know some Corvettes, just not that one.

I much prefer European cars too and we don't get any American cars here. Australian cars are crap too and you probably don't get too many over there (although I think you do get one of our Holdens, badged as a Pontiac I think?)

Here's a joint US/UK effort, though it's ours really:) Have always loved these...

We get the Holden's. Good performance for the money is the general recogning.
