So, on a whim about 8 years ago while doing some computer work I jested "You know, if you ever want to get rid of those give me a call." A few weeks back, he called and I drove over that day to pick them up: Aerius I. They were downsizing and wouldn't take anything for them.
Now, I've got a ton of questions. Everything from maintenance to amplifier selection, to use in a home theater setup. Time to start searching. The first question has to do with the missing low end. I had a pair of floor standing Marantz speakers before these and with my Rotel RX-1050 driving 100 watts/channel into 8 ohms had a solid low end response. The Aerius seem to be much weaker. I'm planning on replacing the receiver (need optical in) and am wondering if I'll be able to get the low end that I'm looking for or if I'll need to add a subwoofer.
Great to be here.

Ben

Congrats Ben and welcome.

Yep, many folks here augment their ML speakers with one or more subs.

On the question of "which amp", please see this thread: http://www.martinloganowners.com/fo...uently-asked-question-on-this-site.-READ-THIS!!

You may also want to run a vacuum over your panels to remove any dust build-up, perhaps also ask the "doner" if he ever did it during his reign. You could go as far as showering with your new speakers too: http://www.martinloganowners.com/forum/showthread.php?12584-Martin-Logan-Shower-Cleaning-PDF

Cheers

You could also look at replacing the existing bass cones with something of higher quality. I don't think the stock cones are, ahem, exactly top of the line.
