With the new year upon us, we are always curious as to what our readers like and don't like. Trying to get a handle on just how old or young everyone is...

If you care to give us a hand by answering, it would be greatly appreciated!!

Also if you feel like it, mention when you got your first pair of electrostatic speakers....

Thanks!

I'm 55 years old and got my first pair of électrostatic panels (CLS IIa) 4 years ago !

Old enough to remember the premier of "Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color" (persuading consumers to go out and purchase color televisions) and I purchased my Sequel II's in 1990 after hearing a pair in the late 80's at a Stereophile show in LA.

Jeff, Check out the "Polls" sub-forum, 'Jump up and Show your Age' Thread.

as for me.......... 7.7 'dog years' , 'di-pole' guy since 1983 (Maggie's), M/L Vantages late 2005

50 years old here. Started with Maggies in 1980, first Martin Logans in 1999.

31 - got my first pair of MLs at 27 (Aerius) - four years ago.....Been an audiophile for as long as I can remember though. I got my first "serious" system at 18 when I left school.

Old enough to remember watching the moon landing. Got my first electrostats (Ascents) in 2000.

Hi Jeff,

I'm 57 y.o. Got my Vantages in 2007, Quad ESL57s in 1985, Acoustat X's in 1976.

Rick

Audio is like women. Does it matter if your enjoying it !

And how old are you!?

Just turned 49 a couple of weeks ago....

Started the panel thing back in 78 with Magnepans, bought
Acoustat 2's in 1980 or 81, then got 3's, then 2+2's and switched to Apogee Scintillas for a while...

Moved to AZ in 87 had Acoustat Spectra 22's, then 1+1's
back to 2+2's... With Quad 57's and 63's in the middle and
then had CLSII's! Loved those, moved to a much smaller house,
got the original Aerius for a while, loved those too.

On to box speakers for a while (Vandersteen and ProAc)
then moved to current digs five years ago. Bought another
pair of Apogees (still have em) and had a brief bout with
SET and 2nd Rethms in the middle of everything.

Year ago came back to ML, with the Vantages for review and
purchased the Summits!

Still really like the panel thing! Unless I get fortunate enough
to afford a pair of Gamut L-9's (130k/pair) or Avalon ISIS (about
70k/pair) I think the Summit/Descent i will stay the reference
in my main system. Harbeth Compact 7's (current version) in system
2 and a mint pair of Celestion SL600's in living room system.
Perhaps to be replaced by a pair of acoustat 1+1's..

I've always loved the Apogee sound. I'm familiar with the Stages, but haven't heard the Scintillas.
