Germany/Switzerland Travel?

Fellas -

I am looking to head to Germany and Switzerland in Sept/October.

Any interesting sites to check out (any 'must see places'?).

I need some help forming an itinerary!

That really depends upon what you are interested in.

Around Munich:

I would not miss Neuschwanstein Castle - Disney's castle was modelled after it.

It was too early in the season when I was there, but Eagle's Lair, where Hitler had a hideout, is supposedly worth seeing. The tour bus needs special brakes to get up there; when the smartass tour guide was telling us this he said that it is so scary that even the bus driver closes his eyes.

The memorial centre (former concentration camp) at Dachau really makes you think.

I am not a beer drinker, but don't miss Oktoberfest in Munich.

Yes - München is a fun place. You're not going to try to see Austria as well? Vienna (the Musikverein) and Salzburg are great!

We were just there. I concur with the castle visit, it is very nice as well as the neighboring castle.

Go to Garmisch and take the cog train or gondola to the top of the Zugspitze; highest peak in Germany. You can have a snack up there and then walk 20 meters and have dessert in Austria. Enjoy the beer and pretzels.

Try Innsbruck Austria, the Alpen Zoo is a pleasure. The Hilton has a casino on the top; my wife said she felt like the cast of a Bond movie up there.

Yes, dessert in Austria is really great as the Austrians are VERY serious about their desserts. I had a great time trying various pastry shops in Vienna.
