pretty cool Mark !

far more sophisticated (and expensive) than the one I got my grandson !

I didn't have the patience to wait, so I maidened her this afternoon.

That term means flown for the very first time, so virgin is one way of looking at it.

I joked about that when I got my Banshee a couple years ago.

They start off like this.
You build the kit, install your electronics and then get it all configured, and hopefully you learned how to fly reasonably well on smaller helis and a flight simulator before you fly something like this otherwise it is all over very quickly.

Belt drive huh. Damnedist looking turntable I've ever seen. How many ROM's?

I didn't record my bench testing with my new Protos, but this is what my Banshee sounded like if you are curious how it sounds. It's much more impressive in the air. Obviously the blades make a pretty good sound too.

This is purely for acrobatics, not for weapons or video.

RC Helis are able to fly in ways that you would never see a real heli fly.

This video is flown slow enough that you can follow what the pilot is doing.

This flying is very difficult to do and requires lightening fast reflexes.

This is the next heli that I have been on a waiting list for coming up on 3 years.
It is just now being released and is definitely something special. I'll be using it for speed flying with retractable landing gear etc..
The video below shows someone using it for smack 3D.

Amazing acrobatics. Makes me wonder why regular helicopters can not perform the same acrobatics.

First the pilots would have passed out from the G forces, but these helis are not remotely scale and have MUCH better power to weight ratios.

You can tell that when he does the ascent from the ground to about 100 feet altitude in about half a second...that'd be like a real one going from the ground to a 1/4 mile in the air in the same time...not a chance.
