Neolith debuts at Munich High End

Pls, read my posts without interpreting it wrong. I did NOT state, this speaker is worse or better than the summits. I said: because of the weak demo it was not really possible for me to judge. During my listening sessions I experienced all the effects described. Also stated, that this may have...

Neolith debuts at Munich High End

So, I'm talking shit. Why? I did report what I experienced. Not to blame ML, just a report. Have you been at munich, too? Whats your impression? Did you like it? Johann

Neolith debuts at Munich High End

Hmm. Not really sure about ML intentions with this speaker. For my feelings the performacne was not optimal, so its hard to judge. Everything was huge. Stage, instruments, voices. Some notes and details definitely came directly from the speakers and not from some location in the virtual...

Neolith debuts at Munich High End

I must admit, that my impressions were slightly different depending on listening position. I've managed to move from the last rows to the first row, center seat. There, it was much better imaging, because this particular chair obviously hit the sweet spot pretty well. But even there, bass...

Neolith debuts at Munich High End

This is a short report from my yesterdays vitsit at the munich show. As I was very curious about ML new Neolith, we walked straight to their demo room. In the late afternoon I had another audition there. In total I spent about an hour to come to a first conclusion. But thats only my view...

CLSIIZs need power!New 600 watt amp makes speakers really sound good!

As I already wrote, the CLS2z has 2 step up transformers and a frequency crossover board. Although the panel itself is connected with those 3 wires mentioned, both transformers are suplied with different signals after the crossover. This is for impedance linearisation. You'll find on the...

CLSIIZs need power!New 600 watt amp makes speakers really sound good!

Oh yes, its definitely possible to bi-amp a CLS2z. For making the CLS2 an easier load, there are 2 step-up transformers and even a crossover board. By removing 2 jumper wires and providing a second set of binding posts (or soldering speaker cables directly to the board) you will be able to...

CLSIIZs need power!New 600 watt amp makes speakers really sound good!

Although I once attended an audition with 2 Kondo Ongakus hooked to a 2z, power is key with the CLS2z. These single ended tubes showed an impressive performance even with 4x27 watts, but I would not recommend this. Under these conditions I would be scared by tube lifetime. Those 211s are really...

My first CLS and several questions.

This is a CLS Panel. CLS2 panels are asymmetric. Outer bass section is wider than the inner one. Number and positions of the tweeter/midrange spacer fields and even the coating may vary from year of production. As far as I can see your panel matches the electronics.

Speaker jumper cables / diagonal wiring / worth trying

Hmmm. Some time ago I switched back to single wire and good jumpers with my summits. I did not manage to get it really working with bi-wire. Tried a number of different biwire cables even in the very expensive price range and always had some slight hum an "grainy" sound as if there were some...

Pairing MLs with a Power DAC

Tact / Lyngdorf As I am seriously interested in switching amp technologies, I dropped an email to Lyngdorf, if any problems may arise driving my Summits. This is what they responded: they can't make any statements about former TacT products, but the actual SDA 2175 will go well along with ML...

    Dogs!

This is Spirit, my Samoyed companion. Regrettably he doesn't like daddys music. Everytime I go to my listening room in the basement and play some hard bass, he escapes outside. He likes to go hiking and very much enjoys winter and snow.

    Gayle Martin Sanders

Fully agreed. If there are no plans for a "CLS3"m why do they not simply manufacture a "limited edition" CLS2z with updated electronics design? I definitley want my CLS back. There always are some offers for used ones, but this is no option for me. Not only in regard to the replacement panel...

    Bad Rumour ?

Thats good news indeed! You know, european markets may actually be a bit nervous, so there is always certain rumor about this and that. Could you give management a notice, that I want back the CLS? The same conception but an up-to-date stator. Hmmmmm :D :D :D Thx for your response! Johann

    Bad Rumour ?

Maybe, I expressed my concerns somewhat misleading. I am ML owner since 1987 and ever have been conviced by the sonic performance. I was talking about commercial and business related issues. I've heard about rumors, that the current owner of the company could terminate ML's business or cancel...

    Bad Rumour ?

Hello, I've noticed some rumour, saying ML is not performing very well. Although this would not be a big surprise, could someone here or even from the company give a statement about that? ML, focus on your core products and go forward to prolong the timeline of your legendary speakers. I...

Used Summit or new Montis / Ethos

Hello, I definitely would keep the CLS2 and replace panels, even if the costs may be higher than the speakers actual value ! Although the Summit (not X) already has X-Stat Technolgy panels that should last minimum 10 years, I would not consider to move to hybrid design, if you currently own a...

    Analog Interconnect Advice?

King Cobra :-)) Hello, i had a similar experience. Some months ago, I decided to give the AQ King Cobra a try and I was really surprised. Compared with some other more expensive interconnects as Van den Huls or OSH, the King Cobra revealed a lot more details. Always keeps its warm and smooth...

    I think I have a compatibility problem...

There is some truth in this. My Burmester 877 MK2 XLR did not go well along with different amps i've tried. Worst combination was with Krell FBP. Very thin and analytic. I did like the way the Burmester was built. Really perfect. But switching to another preamp caused the problem to disappear...

A gnat landed on my Summit panel while in use... Guess what happened to him?

I can tell, you can blast even bigger insects. Once, there was an impressive spider sitting right in the center of one of my CLS stators. It escaped my notice and so I switched on the amp. High voltage supply started up and caused the spider to explode, resulting in a big slimy spot at the...
