    Vantage vs Ascent

I've had both the Ascents and Odysseys in my room and I've heard the Vantages (although NOT in a nice controlled environment..try tweeter). Odysseys are by far the winner in a big room and I am very pleased with mine. The Ascents also sounded great in my room, which is treated, but needed a sub...

System #254 (Odyssey, Stage & Ascent)

I do like them. I would call them neutral with no stand out, or over emphasis in any of the frequency range. I haven't switched them in a while, so I may put the King Cobras back in just to see how the sonic signature of the Marantz is augmented. That reminds me, I need to show an updated pic of...

    Summit-y Goodness !!

excellent to hear they made it safe and sound! Shipping speakers is always a scary ordeal. I'm with the general consensus....Let's see some pictures!:D

System #254 (Odyssey, Stage & Ascent)

It's good to have them a few inches off of the back wall, although only my bass traps are currently following that rule. I need to update my component cabinet picture as the Marantz SA-11S1 is now snugly tucked in. It's a keeper:music:

    For DTB300

Great Googaly Moogaly! If you get those, I may just have to jump on a plane to head out to the west coast and see what they're all about. They look like monolithic statues:D

System #254 (Odyssey, Stage & Ascent)

I'll have to try to find a pic of when I had them in the beveled frames. They looked much better than they do now, but they are in the places they should be and like you said, they make a huge difference in the room. In fact, it's simply the largest impact of anything I've done in the room...

System #254 (Odyssey, Stage & Ascent)

very nice DTB, what fabric did you use? I went to Jo anne's fabric and picked up their speaker cloth.

System #254 (Odyssey, Stage & Ascent)

I did DIY. owings Corning 703 and 705 2" and 4" wrapped in speaker fabric with a ply backer. I initially built these beautiful beveled frames for them so they would look very nice hung, but they added a lot of weight. in the end I went for the faster route.

    Shipping Summits to Big T...

First off, I'm jealous, and I want them :D Now, I used Roadway to get my Odysseys to me as they were too large for any other carrier except freight carriers. Roadway strapped them down and placed them on a pallet and I can't remember what I had the dealer do as far as the number they used to...

    Thanks fellas!!

hey Joey! i've followed your posts for some time back when you just had Rotel gear and posted a lot on the Polk audio forum ( I think that's right). Since I was bitten by the upgrade bug, I followed a parallel path as you and always looked to see where Joey was headed next! But I also know you...

    Advice - Paypal dispute

Good advice Dave. Funny, I threatened the seller after 6 emails with no response to have it charged back and boom, I have a tracking number. Supposed to be here tomorrow???!? If this is true, why didn't the seller just respond to the plethora of emails I sent? he didn't respond, just...

    Advice - Paypal dispute

jason, I used a credit card through pay pal. Do you suggest I contact them directly in lieu of the escalation process through pay pal? Thanks, Adam

    Advice - Paypal dispute

I'm dealing with a fraudulent seller right now about a harmony 1000 remote I purchased over ebay. I paid through paypal and am trying to dispute it. 5 emails to the seller with 0 response other than the first night when he said he forgot to send it and would send it out priority mail the next...

If you had to choose right now between Wadia/Marantz CDP

I did it! Pulled the trigger on the marantz SA-11S1. Can't wait to get it here and into the system to do some comparisons. I think this one just might be a keeper!

    Whatta mistake....

The first time I auditioned MLs I wasn't impressed for the exact same reasons. However, I knew that there had to be the buzz for a reason so i didn't stop with the "pimply face idiot". I knew very little about the positioning of MLs at that point but knew that any speaker wasn't going to shine...

Oddessey Stator Not Working - Help

Moon, I apologize for not following up. I have recently replaced the second transformer just to make sure both stat panels have no deviance in frequency response. It is very simple when you know what to do. PM me and I'll get you my cell or office line so I can walk you through it. 15 min is all...

If you had to choose right now between Wadia/Marantz CDP

Tim, thanks for chiming in. I think it should be a good value at that price point. I'm going to go ahead and pull the trigger on it today!

System #254 (Odyssey, Stage & Ascent)

hey Craig, The Odysseys do sing pretty nicely with the Classe's driving them. Building a dedicated room was one of the best decisions I've made here at the house. I'ts like my own private sanctuary after a long day at the office.:music:
