The Emotivas sound very balanced and neutral to me... I think the combo is a rediculously good value and anyone spending more on amps REALLY needs to hear it before deciding. Especially since Emotiva will let you return them after an in home trial.
I use the Integra 80.2 pre-pro. I run long...
Parasound JC-1 mono amps are also a killer combo with the CLXs.
I actually love the Emotiva XPA-1 monoblocks that I use with mine... no desire to change those if I were keeping the CLXs.
I agree... if you are just making your own rips, sure. When I am downloading from somewhere not always a choice though. From his question, it seemed like he also didnt know what to look for in a good MP3... that was what I was really getting at.
Although... I put flac and mp3 320kbps files...

EDIT - you just mentioned...
If you can, try your subs with one at the front wall midpoint and one at rear midpoint. Or side wall midpoints. This is where the extensive research that Harman came up with as the theoretical best places for two subs for rectangular rooms. I have my Submersives in those spots with my CLXs...

The long is that I have wanted for quite a while to have more of a true "theater" than a 2 channel room with a screen hung in the middle. This means a huge acoustically transparent screen (160" wide scope), hidden speakers...
I have a pair of CLXs in my current room that is about 17ft wide. I have an interested buyer that is trying to find feedback or real world examples of these being used in more narrow rooms. His room is about 12ft wide. He has no problem on depth and can get them 5-6 feet from the front wall...
Is it necessary to blend subs with main speakers using the sub controls still? Obviously sub positioning and number of subs is quite important, but I still see many people talking about blending the sub phase and crossover (like the special crossover on the Descent i for the CLX). I would...
