    Vantage Bass fried by short

Ehh, and today they work again. Maybe there some internal fuse that resets?

    Vantage Bass fried by short

My REL R328 subwoofer suddenly died with a loud bang yesterday. They blew the main fuses, but now the bass of my Vantages is silent apart from a faint hiss/hum. Panels power up fine, and my Lyngdorf amplifier seems ok as well. Have not been able to test the subwoofer output of the amp, though...

    Black finish

Careful - Nextel is exactly the toxic material. There is a reason nobody use it anymore

    Theos & Disappointing Bass Response

Well, investing in a sub can be part of the solution to your room issue - it was for me. The optimal placement of the panels is most likely not the optimum placement in order to achieve an even in-room bass response. That's where a good (sadly not cheap!) sub can help. As many others here, I can...

    Theos & Disappointing Bass Response

Glad to hear that a new amp can drive the bass of the Theos better. Which amp did you buy?

    Theos & Disappointing Bass Response

My amplifier doesn't have Audyssey - it has Lyngdorf's own room correction, which is called RoomPerfect. It does indeed include the sub in the room-dsp, so I don't need the REL to do it by itself.

    Theos & Disappointing Bass Response

I am sorry to hear that the bass of the Theos are not at the same level as the Purities you had before. Perhaps the tonal balance is a tad brighter du to the larger panel? I would encourage you to experiment with placement and toe-in (I have a thread about toe-over that may be interesting for...

    Toe-over vs toe-in

I have now been using this "toe-over" for some days. Watching normal TV, sports, drama ad action movies. I've listened to a wide range of music, including Handel's Mesias and Concerto Grossos, Bachs Christmas Oratory, Beethoven Sonatas for Cello and piano, Holst 'The Planets, Bob Dynal...

    Martin Logan vs. Other Speakers

I am using Vantages, which are, I guess, the little brother to the Spires, and I also use a sub. Mine is a REL, and it works really well. I let the RoomPerfect in my Lyngdorf TDAI2170 take care of the sub/main speaker integration. Regarding the sweet-spot, I started today experimenting with...

    Toe-over vs toe-in

It seems to be a bit of a balancing act. Too much toe-over, and the sound gets congested. Now I have them so that I can just see the outside of the bass-box. That seems to work fine. There's a handball match on the telly tonight. That will be a good test for wide seating with ambient hall sound...

    Toe-over vs toe-in

I have started experimenting with toe-over in stead of toe-in. By toe-over, I mean toeing the speakers in so far that they cross in from rather than behind the seating position. The idea comes from this article: Setup of WG Speakers.pdf (libinst.com). Initial results seem fine. When sitting...

Which is better: Purity or Theo

Congratulations on your purchase - I am sure you will be happy with them. Regarding amps, I would encourage you to audition a Lyngdorf amp with Roomperfect. Depending on your room, it can make a dramatic improvement. It did for me. The room measurement is a bit tricky to get dialed in though...

Which is better: Purity or Theo

I'm with Roberto on this one. A good as they are, the Purity is not really in the same league as the Theos.

Latest recording by Roberto and Friends. Composed By Luis E. Mejia Godoy and sang by him.

Dear Roberto, It has been a long time since I posted here, but this recording, I can't leave unnoticed. I simply don't know where to start, so I will not try to diminish it with my words. I urge all of you out there to listen to it!

Thanks for the update - it is very good to hear!

Summit X plus Lyngdorf TDAI 2170?

Reviving an old thread here, I would like to know if you still use the Lyngdorff, and if you ever experienced any problems with it.

    New Vistas. New Amp?

Get familiar with the speakers over a month time. Find out what you would like to improve sonically by buying a new amp; less harsh, more headroom, more dynamic, better soundstage, more controoled bass, more powerful bass,... Then decide upon a budget, and borrow a couple of different amos...

BIG news from ML coming out of 2016 CES...

I suppose 15 refers to the width of the 15 inch panel, and perhaps A means Active bass module. Perhaps we will see a Renaissance series more or less consisting of 15A, 15P, 12A, 12P, 10A, 10P to replace the whole lineup from Theos to Summit X and above. I would like to see that happen!

BIG news from ML coming out of 2016 CES...

I think I will start saving up for a replacement of my Vantages! I hope they make a smaller version with dual 8 inch woofers to replace the Ethos. And I really like the looks. The apparent boxyness combined with that slight curvature of the bass cabinets side panes - Awesome! Video interview...

Best ML for Large Room - Setup, Ethos or Montis, Bass + other considerations

Good that you moved the speakers out into the room. You did not really (or did I miss it?) write much about your budget, so the advices you receive are a bit all over the place. I think, that the most important improvement in an open-floor layout such as yours is the addition of a pair f high...
