    Solid State or Tubes

Click-bait to be sure. It depends on what you listen for. I have both Aerius and Montis and have driven both from tube (PRS) and solid state (Bryston). I like the tubes better. Maybe it's the higher output impedance, but the tube amps throw a much wider and deeper soundstage. I notice little...

What Are You Listening To Right Now?

What my late partner used to refer to as "nebulous jazz", but good to have on while reading the forums.

    Tube/amp ?

I recently called John Atkinson a numbskull (Mikey was not happy) because he implies that a speaker's frequency response will follow its impedance curve when used with an amplifier with low damping factor. This is not true. Speakers, even electrostatics, operate on power. Sure, put a voltmeter...

    Sanders. cable?

Time for a silly question. Can you point me to the website that describes the cable? I have built the CAT5 speaker cables described on TNT-Audio. They work pretty well with my Montis'. Would be open to trying something different.

    Montis Bass Control Setting

My Montis' replaced the original Aerius in my 21' x 15' room. Maybe I'm still enjoying the bass, never had it before in my system, but I have left the control set to 0. Using the spikes really helps to tighten the bass and improve sound staging.

Black VS Black Cherrywood for speaker finishes?

Just bought the Montis in black cherrywood. They are gorgeous! Well worth it.

    Personal Question

Hi Everyone; I come here often but rarely post. Sorry about that. Original Aerius that I never outgrew for 25 years has now been upgraded to the Montis. To say I love them would be an understatement. I know we all experience this- the speakers have not been playing and are asleep. Don't want...

Typically, how long do MLs last?

Mine are original Aerius, soon to be upgraded at long last. I had to replace the panels after 10 years, but now at 25 years they still sound great! I hope the new ones (Montis) will do as well.

    Mac Mini

Absolutely! I use the digital out on my MacBook Pro to feed my Buffalo DAC and it works great. What software do you use? I use MPD on the computer and MPOD on my iPhone to control it.
