My speakers are finally broken in and ready to go. Spires are definitely the most transparent speaker I have heard in the Martin Logan line besides the CLX. The music is presented purely without any noticeable coloration throughout the frequency spectrum.

By all means save your money and get the Spires. Vantages are excellent but Spires are almost like getting a cleaner Summit for much less money. They have the larger Stat panel, the new crossover design developed from the CLX and a larger woofer system that can go much lower than Vantages...
Spires and 501's? Wow! That blows away my modest MC275 with my Spires. I agree with your use of the word 'transparency' in the case of these speakers. I think theses are the most transparent sounding ML's along with the CLX.
A quick suggestion is to maybe bypass the balance control on...
For the last year or so I have used the Sumiko setup go get a bass anchor and apply some if its' rules to make sure the center image is the right size, has the right space and sounds sweet. Since they are ML's I then employ the good old flashlight technique and check to see how close I am to...
I can't wait to get a turntable and set it right on top! My wallet is spent so it will have to wait for a bit.
I've now turned the 35hz adjustment on each woofer to -7db and I have eliminated tons of the bass overload I was getting. It sounds just fantastic.

Thanks for all of the advice. I am surprised at how great this system sounds already but down the road I will be looking into some acoustic manipulation. I may hit all four corners with some traps to start.
I haven't rolled yet but I am planning on it sometime down the road. I haven't heard any other tubes aside from the stock ones they put in the 275 and to me they sound great.
