I've never had any good results with room correction software and MLs. Leave it off and focus on manually correcting the room if needed. Enjoy the M33, I've heard good things about it.
I don't know if anyone has tried it. You could be the first to try and let us know. However I think it would be best to sell/Trade-In the ESL C and put the money you would for the extra ESL C for 2 or 4 Motion FX2s or even a good set of EM-ESLs for surround over using the ESL Cs. I use EM-ESLs...
No leap of faith on that one. the C18 is one of the best Center Channels on the market IMO in terms of performance. I don't think it gets the recognition it deserves due to price and being a electrostatic speaker.
Yes I changed out a fiber HDMI to a copper one. I will say this seems like the fiber one was poorly made while the copper one was a bit nicer. Definitely do not cheap out on cables could be the difference of hum or not!
Just to provide an update, found the hum was from the TV/AVR. The HDMI from the output to the TV was the source causing the hum. swapped the hdmi out and added grounding pins to the XLR of the new amp so far its been quiet since both changes
So yes I have RCAs plugged in without the grounding pins.
However I found the culprit and wasn't expecting it. I found when I traced back to my avr, that when I unplugged the hdmi from the avr output to the TV that the hum went away. I played music without that HDMI attached all was good...
Hi All, recently purchased a used Krell Showcase amplifier to run my center and rear channels (plan on adding more later) However right now I have my C18 throwing a humming noise when the showcase is on. Its pretty noticeable and annoying as heck! The C18 doesn't throw any sound if i plug it...
They should be able to give you the wiring diagram for the crossover. maybe you can match the parts if your comfortable with putting new ones in opposed to replacing the entire crossover?
Definitely going to say the Theos is a great speaker. I loved mine for the 5+ years i had them. However I found the Montis to be everything the Theos was and more. Got to admit thats the best part of this hobby, everyone's tastes are different.
If I recall the motion lineup got revamped before the ESLs got updated to the current line up last time. I would assume new speakers will come out in a year or two.. If we see another sale on the masterpiece lineup around Black Friday/Christmas then I would say they are getting close to a new...
To the OP, dont think you have to worry about ESLs going away or anything. Having the cone speakers are a way for people to get into the brand. The new motion series is the real deal but still can't dethrone many of the speakers of the current and previous ESL lines I'd take my old Theos...
Do you know if anything else is damaged? I would get it looked at and fixed if you can. I dont think there is any limiter in the speaker, you may have some bad electronics as well along with the woofers. I've sadly not had the chance to listen to the illusion but others have told me its not...
