To be honest, I've never been an Apple fan(atic), particularly because of the way (IMHO) they've destroyed the music industry, and crushed their competition, but Steve Jobs was certainly a visionary with his tech designs. Condolences to his family and friends.

FYI, I'm linking the YouTube video of his commencement address at Stanford University from 2005. Definitely sage advice, and a fitting legacy for us all. RIP Steve.

Agree I also am not an Apple guy cept my Iphone. Has anybody seen the movie Queen of outer space? 1956? ZaZa Gabor. In it there is a gold flat screen monitor? on a neck with a pedestal base makes me wonder where Mr. Jobs got the idea from for his products. Wonder where the Co. will go now with products.

Beek, I'd like to suggest that you use thread titles that are descriptive of the contents of the thread instead of the cryptic titles you seem to like. Case in point is the title of this thread.

With a descriptive title I may open or ignore a thread, depending upon if the topic is of interest to me. Cryptic titles are of no help in that respect.

Well here in NY tv was interupted with a 30 sec flash regarding Job's death.
Nothing too abstract here for that matter other member responded to the post.
In the future feel free to ignore my posts I am not particular about who opens or dosent look at the posts or minds a few clicks.

Thanx,
Beek

No surprise that SJ was not long for this world given his increasingly skeletal countenance... still, my 13 year old blurted out last night that he had passed and I did that double-take thing (that I find myself doing more and more whenever my 13 year old says just about anything).

Regardless of your position on his impact to the world, there's no denying the man was a genius on multiple levels. We are Apple consumers in this house. I have no qualms about using tech that feels good and works well. Though I do have qualms about the abusive quasi-slavery manufacturing trends in Asia (read up on Foxxconn sometime, your jaw will hit the floor). Regardless, those concerns aren't focused entirely on Apple, obviously.

I work for a large semiconductor company and we have HUGE business with Apple - our chips are in virtually all of their hardware. It will be very interesting to see what direction Apple takes now with TC at the helm. I must say that the iPhone 4S announcement, while interesting wrt the new features, better camera, and A5 proc, would have been received a lot better by the entirer world if they'd just done something as simple as changed the footprint... perhaps just given it a 4" screen. People wanted to see a different cool phone, not the exact same phone with a few more features. Oh well.

RIP Mr. Jobs!
