Just ordered new panels for my ascents that I purchased new in 2005.
They were getting pretty dull, and bass heavy, so I am pretty sure they need them at this point. I vacuumed and that helps get some sound back to some portions of the panel that are dropping out, but still not as crisp as they should be.

Looks like I have about a 10 week lead time.

I assume this is a better choice over plunking down 4k for a set of ESL X

the next option would be classic 9, but that would have to wait another year at least to budget.

best of luck, hope they sound like new again !

Just out of curiosity. What does a new set of panels cost ?

1675 plus shipping for Ascent panels.
not cheap, but better than plunking down 7-10k for classic 9's of the 11's

OK, update.. I ended up finding a pair of Vantage in excellent shape a couple of hours from me, so snagged those for about the same price as the panel. They sound great! Not as much bass impact, but the integration with the panel is much better as well as the imaging.
anyone looking for a cheap pair of Ascents that need panels.. shoot me an email.

Thanks for the update, and glad you solved your ML fix.

Hope someone picks up the Ascents.
