Some of the SVTs I have owned over the years.

YIKES! a photo of the Contour just made me throw up into my mouth a little bit.

Kerry had one.. not the SVT model, but the V6 "Sport" model - in the same color as yours, Cherian. It was a rolling POS. Had all sorts of electrical problems that Ford would not stand behind, even under warantee!!! The dealer had it in the shop several times and couldn't fix it and after letters to Ford didn't work and we didn't qualify for the Calif. lemon law. We traded it in "as is" and got a Camry.

No more Fords in this household. Even though that Lightning intrigues me and the new Mustang Shelby is so cool! Oh well.

Speaking of Shelby...... Do any of you watch "Top Gear" on BBC America? They took the Shelby thru it's paces and decided that it's "rubbish". Suspension was horrible as were the brakes. They said Ford wanted to keep the costs down... Then they got the Rousch Shelby.. New Brakes and suspension... they RAVED about it!

That's a cool show, btw.

Yes my Contour had issues as well. What I liked most about the car was the handling. It was tight and I could pull almost 1G into a corner. I did some Solo II racing with it and stock it would hang with some more notable cars in its class.

I did see that Top Gear episode. I have to agree with them on the new Shelby. With almost 500hp better breaks and a full independent rear is needed. That rigid axel is only good for the strip.

Attached is a pic of the car that I owned for 4 years that I loved the most. Not the fastest car I owned but the most fun and gave me a good feeling to drive. Oh it was a babe magnet and it is European.

aw geez,

as if drooling over some of your guys' systems was not enough! I've got a 10 yo Ford pickup that would crawl away and hide in shame if it saw that thing! I've thought of putting in some money for new paint, upholstery, fix bumper, etc, but Im going to try and wait to buy a new vehicle sometime....

Lightnings are awesome. I also like the F150-based Harley Davidson truck in silver/black.

I'm sticking with mah G for a little while. Cherian drove my car for a bit... I thought I smelled some clutch burning Cher.... tsk tsk tsk...

Joey

Thats was the traction control and brakes getting hot :p . Joey's G is very quick and the suspension is tight. Though you need to drive the car with traction control off.

Oooh... so that's what that smell was. I thought it was the clutch... but I figured you'd not do that cuz of your legendary driving skills.

I've got some Blizzaks on now and the ice storm we just had was manageable. If I was using my summer Potenzas, it'd be game over.

I don't miss the days of having RWD in the winter. The Mustang was a handful.
I remember thinking to myself in the snow storm going uphill please traffic don't come to a stop. I will never get restarted. When I got my Audi and had AWD and saw how good it was I knew I would never go back to F or RWD. Well maybe RWD for a summer drift car.

He, I switched to 100% AWD cars a decade ago. So any vehicle I get, must have AWD. My new Acura RL even has Super Handling AWD (torque vectoring) ;)

I feel about non-awd cars the same way you'd feel about a car with brakes on only one axle, an unsafe handful :D

That said, very nice paint job on the truck George, enjoy the lighting show !

Well here it is , DIESELS  Its a 11 second diesel truck . Yup,... 7000lbs of power and trq. With over 700 rwhp and well over 1100 ft lbs of trq . The best thing is its a daily driver. It has several mods done.

Balanced and blueprinted block and crank, Keyed Cam and crank , Bored .020 over with .020 over custom de-compressed pistons. Head and main studs, Crower billet rods. Decked heads with custom springs and re grind . Dual cp3 with a secondary MITUSA lift pump. GT 4094 custom built turbo. Custom made Blow off valve . Suncoast (Merchant Auto Built ) stage 5 trans . Suncoast 1057 3 disc converter. Cognito front end braces. (Idler arm and Pitman arm) Fabtech Tie rods. Custom Intake . Silverline 4 inch exaust Auto meter gages , EGT, BOOST,Fuel PSI,D-PIC, Rail PSI. Custom tuned By Ridge Runner Diesel via. EFI

Factory Escalade NAV unit interfaced with a DVD player and a back up camera. GM Bose RE WORKED SYSTEM. I added 2 more factory tweeters in the rear pilars and added a few resistors in the doors to control the sound. Then I augmented the Bose Sub with 2 10 inch Infinity Perfect 10.1 subs and a digital Alpine M-650 sub amp. This is not a Martin Logan system but , It jams.

Well here it is , DIESELS  Its a 11 second diesel truck . ...

Wow C.A.P, that's a truck!

Very cool to have a Diesel with that kind of performance.

Now, the questions is, if CAP and Rampage60 drag race, who wins? Pinks anyone? :D

Lol. That's the line I get from Lightning Owners with one of my toys...

Those are/were both mine. The '00 Lightning I owned for two years and put maybe 400 miles on it...never even had the intercooler recall completed. The Syclone beside it is my current bad boy...760HP/960TQ...and AWD. It ran 10.4@129 at the track last Fall with very little timing and 22 pounds of boost (it runs 28 on pump gas on the street with the alky on;)) before getting escorted off the grounds of an IHRA track for not having a cage. 1.6 60 foots at any red light and able to walk anything I have ever come across on the street very, very badly from a dig. Can you tell I like my pet?

And since we're on the topic of diesels as well, here's my baby...

234793960-M.jpg

Not quite 1100TQ, but able to leave Mustangs in a cloud of black smoke and pull that 11,000lb fifth wheel over most anything with the cruise on 130kph and the EGTs below 800.

Finally, some interesting car facts. This is what a pair of Summits looks like with four wheels bolted to them. My A/V dealer wants one of my toys and we are discussing me giving him my Typhoon as a trade on some equipment. Did I mention this one ran ran 11.0@115, breaking the cryo-treated billet input shaft on the tranny before even making it to half track the first time we put the boots to it? Weeeee.

And here is a humorous and entertaining video of my future toy. I say future because I am #19 on the waiting list and the dealership is only getting nine 2008s. Hopefully the V10s are available by the time my turn comes around.

Oh and most importantly, kudos on a very nicely modified Lightning George. I can appreciate the work that went into getting it to that point. Run your hands over the seats for me the next time you get in it. I miss those seats the most. Cheers.
