Sry if stupid but is it ok to set up for use without the rails on? Mine are getting refinished and I have new panels waiting to be installed. Can I install them and run them or better to wait?

usually the rails hold the panels on ! At leas the older wood ones . If they are the newer style with side rails I don't know ! When in doubt error to the side of caution and wait!

For the older ML models, the rails hold the panel in place, so I wouldn't advise doing that..
On the newer models like Ascent, Odyssey, Prodigy, etc. I'm not sure if those rails hold the panel in place....

On these models the rails are only there for looks...they are FINE to use w/o rails.
