can someone help me out... i would like to expand my music listening field with some jazz/ blues but all the recordings i find are very poor quality... any recomendations.....

Definitely look into, "Patricia Barber"- Modern Cool. As for Miles Davis. I have some 20bit recordings that sound pretty good. Sketches of Spain is available on SACD, though it is not a Hybrid SACD I can't really comment on it. I have some excellent John Lee Hooker & Muddy Water recordings. Fat Freddy's Drop is recorded quite well. Another I have that's recorded well is Aretha Franklin, Live at the Filmore. There are quite a few more out there...

Here's some other liks to get you started.

Are you looking for Redbook, SACD, or Vinyl as your source? I see in your system, you have Redbook/SACD - is this still correct?

If looking for SACD I recommend these two for sonic qualities and great music too:

Both on SACD:
Miles Davis' Someday My Prince Will Come
Art Pepper's Art Pepper + 11

FYI, I just picked up the new 20th Anniversary Chesky Records compilation, a 2 CD set. It's a superb collection of jazz, vocals, and some classical and blues. I suspect it might be available on SACD as well as Redbook CD.
