Hi ML Owners,

I am a proud owner of a pair of ML Ascent i's, a Theater i, and four surround Fresco i's. I am wanting to replace my current Denon 4800 receiver. I have approximately $2500 to do so. Any advice?

Thanks,

Randall

Denon 4308 will give you all the latest and greatest features and give you decent quality sound. I think it is probably the best receiver in that price range.

Look into the Sunfire line.

You may want to audition one of the Sunfire receivers.Massive power with extremely warm sound. As with any Sunfire product it easily would drive power hungary Logans.:rocker:

Determine the features that are important to you, then try to go listen to them to see which sounds the best to you.

Too many other factors involved with personal preferences and tastes with regards to the sound signature of units.

There are many models to choose from: Yamaha, Denon, Pioneer, Onkyo, Integra, Arcam, etc. to name a few.

I'm in the same boat, looking to replace my aging Yamaha RX-V1000 for surround sound duties. Originally I was going to buy another Yammie, but after reading about the Denon line, with Audyssey room correction, I'm going that route... likely the 4308CI. Denon is also coming out with a top-of-the-line A/V processor, the AVP-A1HDCI, as discussed in this thread... http://www.martinloganowners.com/~tdacquis/forum/showthread.php?t=4575 however, retail is purportedly ~$7000 (?? street price), and it won't be shipping till Jan 2008 or later. The 4308CI will suffice for me as I'll only be powering my Motif and in-ceiling surrounds with it (feeding front pre-outs to my Modwright/Belles/Summit setup).

In the past, I fed the Yamaha pre-outs to a Sunfire amp, driving my Aerius i's, then the Summits. You might consider that approach, using the Denon as a Pre/Pro with a separate amp for the Ascent i's, for improved two-channel performance.

I put a post out there awhile ago - as to whether anyone had heard of Emotiva before. The chassis is a sunfire.... go take a look - seperates for your 2500 dollars.... www.emotiva.com and if anyone has an opinion - I would like to hear it. The writeups seems quite favorable - and if I was looking receiver and had 2500 - I would defintely consider this.... tell me what you all think . thx. tim

Sorry to the OP, not meaning to hijack.

Timm, here's a couple of links to take a look at concerning Emotiva. You may want to PM Ralflar.
