Hello all,
I am the proud new owner of a pair of 1996 vintage Aerius speakers in need of TLC. Basically I have taken a punt on slightly tired examples running on American voltage. The price was good (and included a high quality mains transformer) but cosmetically they looked shabby and the stat panels are all but gone. So far I have sanded the black oak side strips down to the original wood, repaired the cosmetic damage and re-varnished them: looking good as new to my eyes. Next is to clean and re-coat the diaphragms on the panels as per the leethomas thread elsewhere on this site. Materials on order from Australia. Basically this could go one of two ways: either I will have a fully functioning pair of the best loudspeakers I've heard, or I will have paid a few hundred quid for decorative abstract room sculpture. Fingers crossed! Any tips or advice always welcome.
Dave.
