Can anyone point me in the direction of some reasonably priced, decently performing external DAC/preamp combo that has a HT bypass? I am looking to try to stay around/under the $2k ballpark. The Benchmark DAC1 HDR catches my eye and has good reviews, but it doesn't have a HT bypass option. What else should I be looking at? Frankly, I don't know what performance gain I am going to get by going to a set up like this as I have never had a dedicated stereo pre or external DAC in my system, but I hope it is a good gain. Currently my squeezebox runs digital into my Yamaha receiver and processed there in 'Pure Direct' mode. It sounds very good and I have no complaints, but I figured that this is probably the next best upgrade piece.
