I'll be in Chicago for an e-commerce show from Sunday to Wednesday and was wondering if anyone could recommend a place I could hear some high-end gear near Mccormick Place.

I Googled this and did the Yellow Pages thing but can't make any heads or tails out of the results.

Thanks in advance,

There is Glenn Poor audio downtown, not too far from McCormick place. They may be moving to the near south side (closer to McCormick place), though, so I would call before I go.

They are into Vivid speakers (driven by Luxman). Vivid is not my cup of tea, but their reference room does sound pretty good, and their (current) location is just off Michigan ave.

Just west of the loop, also not too far from McCormick place, there is Audio Consultants. Their reference room is Wilson WP 8 and Ayre electronics, including the Ayre monoblocks.

In the vicinity of Chicago Loop -

1. Glenn Poor (as David mentioned; Vivid, Wilson?, Linn, Luxman)
2. Ultimate Audio (Rockport, etc)
3. Pro Musica (Sonus Faber, Dynaudio, Quads)
4. Quintessence Audio (Avalon, Sonus Faber, Vandersteen)
5. Audio Consultants (BW, Magnepans, Thiel, Ayre, Boulder, Macs)

There are more but those are the 5 that I frequent...
