Hi All,

I am trying to help a friend of mine buy a sub $1000.00 street value receiver. I know nothing about receivers or about their quaility (heard NAD and Cambridge Audio are good a little expensive though). Do any of you have any experiences with such equipment recently? Any help would be appreciated.

It has been a lot of years since I was in the market for a receiver.

Thanks

The new **08CI series from Denon, with built-in Audyssey MultiEQ XT, is impressive. I just got the 3808CI (online price <$1200). The 2808CI would be sub $1000, but lacks the ethernet connectivity and some other features, Lots of discussion comparing the latest crop of HDMI capable receivers (Denon, Onkyo, Yamaha) at AVForum.com.

FWIW, Yammie RXV-1700 (discontinued model) is out there for $650-800 range.
